Cause
The espresso powder is too moist
and/or compressed too tightly.
No water in the water tank z.
The holes of the sieve holder
openings are blocked.
The sieve holder p is not
correctly inserted.
The sieve holder openings
are blocked.
There are espresso powder residues
on the edges of the sieve holder p.
The "Steam quantity" dial 5 points
to (or past) the " " symbol. This
means you are in cleaning mode.
The milk tank lid 4 and/or the
milk nozzle 0 are blocked.
The water tank z is empty.
Not enough espresso powder.
The espresso powder is too
coarsely ground.
Too much espresso powder.
The powder is too finely ground.
Remedy
Re-prepare the espresso.
However, this time do not
compress it so tightly, or
replace it completely.
Fill the water tank z
with water.
Clean the sieve holder p.
Insert the sieve holder p
correctly.
Clean the sieve holder p.
Clean the espresso powder
residues from the edges of the
sieve holder p.
Turn the "Steam quantity"
dial 5 further to the left, in
front of the " " symbol, to
produce milk froth.
Clean the milk tank lid 4
and/or milk nozzle 0 as
described in the section
"Cleaning the milk nozzle
and milk tank".
Fill the water tank z
with water.
Use more espresso powder.
Use only espresso powder
that is specially produced for
making espresso.
Use less espresso powder.
Use only espresso powder
that is specially produced for
making espresso.
