INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
CAUTION!
For connection to 1/2" or larger cold water line only!
Option 2—For Connection to a Secondary Faucet–UNFCTBL or UNFCTWW (not included) (Fig. 2)
Parts needed:
1 – Faucet with parts and instructions (not included)
1 – 6 ft. section of 3/8" plastic tubing
2 – NPT elbows (one for Inlet side of
Filter head, one for Outlet side)
The water supply (saddle) valve included with this SSKIT is designed to be used with 1/2 " or larger metal incoming
supply water piping.
GE will not be responsible for any damage incurred if the installer attempts to use this valve on supply lines with an outside diameter
less than 1/2".
1. Mount filter housing under cabinet using instructions
furnished with the unit. Be sure filter housing is a
"–2" above floor.
minimum of 1

2. Turn off incoming cold water supply.
3. Open nearest faucet to relieve water pressure and
drain line.
Water Supply (Saddle) Valve Installation.
4.
(Study Figs. 2-A & 2-B before beginning the installation). Be
sure your cold water supply line is 1/2" or larger metal
tubing.
(a) Between the incoming water supply shut off valve
and the main faucet (Fig. 2-C) , drill a 1/4" hole in
the supply line (Fig. 2-A) to accept the saddle valve
required for the new faucet.
DO NOT USE AN ELECTRIC DRILL. Do not exert excess
pressure on the drill as this could result in bending the
supply line and/or damaging the opposite tube wall
when the drill bit cuts through.
(b) Remove burrs around the hole that resulted from
drilling. Use a file or emery paper (fine sandpaper)
for best results.
(c) Proceed with valve assembly following
Figs. 2-A & 2-B .
5. Select the 3/8" X 3/8" NPT elbows, identifiable by the
tapered threads on one end. Wrap these threads with
2 or more turns of Teflon* tape (Fig. 2-C #1) .
6. Thread elbows into filter housing until tight then turn to
the position desired for tubing connection. If necessary,
complete tightening using a wrench or pliers (neither
provided).
7. If faucet UNFCTBL or UNFCTWW is used, install using the
instructions provided with the respective kits.
2 – 3/8" compression nuts
2 – 3/8" plastic inserts
1 – Water supply (saddle) valve with parts and instructions
1 – Roll of Teflon® tape
8. Determine the lengths of 3/8" plastic tubing required
to fit between the saddle valve and the filter housing
head, and filter housing head and the faucet. Leave
enough slack in the line to allow the unit to be easily
removed for filter change. Cut tubing ends square for
best valve seating. This will allow tubing to seat properly
and help prevent leaks.
9. Select the cut length of tubing that fits between the
saddle valve and the inlet side of the filter housing head,
press tubing into the compression nut on the saddle
valve until tubing bottoms out (approximately 5/8"),
then hand tighten.
10.To attach the tube to the filter housing head slip the
tubing through the hole in the end of the compression
nut, then push an insert into the tube. Press the tubing
into the elbow until the tubing bottoms out,
approximately 5/8", hand start nut and tighten.
11.Repeat step 10 for the outlet side, starting with the filter
housing head rather than the faucet.
12.Follow the installation instructions included with the
faucet and attach the 3/8" tubing to the faucet.
13.Tighten brass nut on water supply/saddle valve with a
wrench as required to prevent leakage.
14.Open filtered water faucet, open water supply/saddle
valve to the filter, and slowly turn on main water supply
valve, check for leaks. Water flow may be erratic until the
air is purged from the unit. Close filtered water faucet
when flow is smooth.
15.Tiny air bubbles may be present in water during initial
start up. Flush filter for five (5) minutes or more to
eliminate.
