INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS

CAUTION!
For connection to 3/8" cold water line only! If the line is smaller, a reducer (not included) will be required.
Option 1—For connection when the Main Sink Faucet is used (Fig. 1).
Parts needed:
1 – 6 ft. section of 3/8" plastic tubing
2 – NPT elbows (one for Inlet side of
Filter head, one for Outlet side)
2 – 3/8" compression nuts
2 – 3/8" plastic inserts
NOTE: Option 1 uses an FXUTC FILTER (not included) or a filter that can deliver 2 gal/min minimum. The use of a filter with a lower
flow rate can adversely affect the main faucet flow rate.
Read all instructions and study all diagrams before beginning.
1. Mount filter housing under cabinet using instructions
furnished with the unit. Be sure the bottom of the filter
sump (tank) is a minimum of 1
2. Turn off incoming cold water supply.
3. Open the sink faucet to relieve water pressure and drain
line. Place a container under the supply line to contain
any water that will be released when the line is cut.
4. Be sure incoming cold water supply is 3/8" diameter
metal piping. Approximately 2" to 3" above the shut off
valve, cut out a section approximately 3–4" long.
Remove and discard this section. Remove burrs on the
open ends with a file or emery cloth (fine sandpaper).
NOTE: All plastic nuts with inserts and steel grippers normally
come assembled. The installation drawings show the nuts
disassembled for reference only.
5. Place the end of one (1) union elbow containing the
steel gripper onto the metal tubing at the supply valve
approximately 5/8" or until it bottoms out. Repeat
procedure for the other end of the metal tubing at the
faucet end. Turn the elbows in the direction of the filter
housing and hand tighten. Wrench tighten 1
as needed.
6. There are two (2) 3/8" x 3/8" NPT elbows with tapered
threads on one end. The tapered threads must be
wrapped with a minimum of two (2) turns of Teflon*
Tape. Thread elbows into filter head cover until securely
tightened, wrench tighten if necessary, leaving elbows
pointed in the direction of the supply line.
"–2" above the floor.

2 – Union elbows
2 – 3/8" nuts for metal piping
2 – 3/8" steel grippers
2 – 3/8" plastic sleeves
1 – Roll of Teflon® tape
7. Determine the length of 3/8" plastic tubing that will be
required to make the connections from the cold water
supply valve to the sump head inlet elbow and from the
faucet pipe to the sump head outlet elbow.
8. Push one (1) end of the plastic tubing through the nut
with the threads facing the sump (tank) elbow, then
push insert into the tubing. Press tubing into the elbow
approximately 5/8" or until it bottoms out. Start nut
onto the elbow and hand tighten. Repeat procedure for
other tubing-elbow connection.
9. On the cold water supply end, press plastic tubing
approximately 5/8" into the union elbow, hand start
and hand tighten nuts. Repeat procedure for the pipe
connected to the faucet. Wrench tighten if needed.
NOTE: Make sure sump tank is hand-tightened.
10.Turn on faucet to cold water position and slowly open
water supply, checking for leaks. Close filtered water
faucet when flow is smooth, again check for leaks.
11.Tiny air particles may be present in the water during
initial start up; flush filter five (5) minutes or more
to eliminate.
