1.
Remove rubber plugs from attachment holes., 1 at the end of the frame rail and one on the outside of the frame rail forward of the exhaust hanger. Scrape frame rails to remove any caulk near the
attachment holes.
2.
Using a 1" holesaw drill an access hole for the fasteners. Locate the area between exhaust hanger bracket and suspension mount on the frame rail. (You may need to use pliers to bend the heat shield out
of the way.) Repeat for the other side.
3.
Fishwire the carriage bolt and spacer thru the access hole into the rearward attachment hole (both sides), leave fishwires attached.
4.
Passenger side only Remove the 10mm nut holding the plastic inner fender to the vehicle to allow the plastic to be pulled outward for hitch installation.
5.
Raise hitch into position, guiding the fishwire ends thru the attachment hole on the hitch. Once the hitch is in place remove the fishwire and install the conical washer (teeth side against hitch) and nut.
Hand tighten only at this time.
6.
Fishwire the second carriage bolt and spacer thru the access hole and thru the attachment hole in the frame rail and hitch, install the conical washer (teeth side against hitch) and nut. Removing the access
door on passenger side inner fender may help with the upper fastener installation.
7.
Tighten all 1/2" fasteners with torque wrench to 75 Lb.-Ft. (102 N*M)
8.
Re-install the 10mm nut for the plastic inner fender and the access door removed earlier.
Note: check hitch frequently, making sure all fasteners and ball are properly tightened. If hitch is removed, plug all holes in trunk pan or other body panels to prevent entry of water and exhaust fumes. A hitch or ball which has been damaged should be removed and replaced.
Observe safety precautions when working beneath a vehicle and wear eye protection. Do not cut access or attachment holes with a torch.
