Operation
Product-specific safety information
Always disconnect the instrument from the power supply and neutralize your own static
|
charge before opening the instrument, otherwise you could damage the internal components.
All adjustment, maintenance and repair tasks performed on an energized clamp meter may only
|
be performed by qualified specialist personnel familiar with the specifications of this manual.
"Qualified personnel" refers to persons familiar with the installation, design and operation of
|
the equipment and the associated dangers. They are sufficiently experienced and authorized
to connect or disconnect electrical circuits and installations in accordance with professional
standards.
When the instrument is open, remember that some internal capacitors may retain lethal
|
voltage potential after being switched off.
If faults or irregularities occur, decommission the instrument and make sure that it can no
|
longer be used until after it has been checked.
If the instrument is not used for an extended period, remove the batteries and keep the
|
instrument in an environment that is not moist or too hot.
Exercise extreme caution when performing tasks on uninsulated conductors and busbars.
|
Contact with these components could result in an electric shock! Use the appropriate
protective equipment!
Definition of the measurement categories
Measurement category II: Measurements on circuits directly connected to a low voltage system
electrically via a plug. Typical short-circuit current < 10 kA
Measurement category III: Measurements within the building installation (stationary consumers
with a non-plug-in connection, distributor connection, permanently installed instruments in the
distributor).
Typical short-circuit current < 50 kA
Measurement category IV: Measurements at the source of the low voltage installation (meters,
mains connection, primary overcurrent protection). Typical short-circuit current >> 50 kA
To establish the measurement category with a combination of test lead and measuring
instrument, the lowest category - of either the test lead or the measuring instrument - applies.
The user must comply with all the usual safety regulations when using this clamp meter:
Protect against dangers from electricity.
|
Protect the measuring instrument against misuse.
|
For your own safety, use only the measuring heads included in the scope of delivery of the
instrument. Check that the instrument is in a faultless condition before use.
