Operation

To measure the extent of leakage (size of the leak),
use the flow meter test (see sec. 6.5.). To test the
absolute leak tightness, use the pressure gauge (see
sec. 6.4.)
6.1
Multi-function lamp
WARNING – Danger from laser beam!
The laser beam emitted by the multi-func-
tion lamp can blind individuals, cause
accidents, or damage the eye.

Do not direct the laser beam toward in-
dividuals or animals, especially the face
and eyes
¶
Do not look directly into the laser beam
or its reflection.

The following functions are activated when the
multi-function key on the multi-function lamp is
pressed:
R
White light for simple smoke detection.
R
UV light for identifying the fluorescent dye at the
location of leakage.
R
Red laser beam.
R
Switch off.

Connecting the SMT 300 to power

Do not connect the black battery connection cable
to the ground port of the battery under any circum-
stances, as a spark in the vicinity of the battery
could cause an explosion.
1. Connect the SMT 300 to the compressed-air connec-
tion (3.4 bar – 12 bar) in the workshop.

The vehicle battery must be in good condition and
fully charged.
2. Connect the battery connection cable (red) to the
positive terminal of the vehicle battery 12 V.
3. Connect the battery connection cable (black) to the
ground port on the vehicle frame.

The green status indicator for the battery illuminates.

A flashing green status indicator means insufficient
vehicle battery voltage connected to the SMT 300.
