Connecting the DES-1016D / DES-1024D Fast Ethernet
Switch to Your Network
DES-1016D
A.
Power:
The Switch can be used with AC power sources 100 - 240 VAC, 50 - 60 Hz. The Switch's
power supply will adjust to the local power source automatically and may be turned on
without having any or all LAN segment cables connected.
B.
10/100 Mbps Fast Ethernet Ports
These ports support network speeds of either 10 Mbps or 100 Mbps, and can operate in
half- and full- duplex transfer modes. These ports also support automatic MDI/MDIX
crossover detection, which gives the Switch true, "plug and play" capabilities. Just connect
any network cable between the Switch and the device, and The Switch will automatically
detect the settings of the device and adjust itself accordingly.
LED Indicators
The LED Indicators will allow you to monitor, diagnose and troubleshoot any potential problem
with the switch, connection or attached devices.
A.
POWER
This indicator lights green when the Switch is receiving power, otherwise, it is off.
B.
Link / Act
These LED indicators are lighted up when there is a secure connection (or link) to any ports.
The LED indicators blink whenever there is reception or transmission (i.e. Activity--Act) of
data occurring at a port.
C.
FDX / Col (DES-1016D only)
This LED indicator light green when a respective port is in full duplex (FDX) mode.
Otherwise, it is blinking green when collisions are occurring on the respective port.
D.
100 Mbps
These LED indicators are lighted up when there is a secure connection (or link) to 100
Mbps Fast Ethernet device at any of the ports.
