CAUTION! Do not attempt to install NPT pipe fittings directly into the new 22381257 and 22381259 helm pump
hose fitting ports. Doing so will lead to irreparable damage to the pump. Only use the hose fittings or adapters provided.
ORB to NPT Adapter Installation
1. Thread fittings into helm pump port. NOTE! Do not use Teflon tape or any liquid pipe sealant with ORB fittings.
2. Torque fitting to 18 lbf ft.
3. While holding the ORB fitting with a wrench, install the NPT fitting as follows:
CAUTION! The ORB fitting must be secured with a wrench during the entire NPT fitting installation. Failure to do
so may lead to irreparable damages to the helm pump ports.
4. Apply a "liquid" Teflon based pipe sealant around the first 3 or 4 threads of the NPT fitting.
5. Install NPT fitting into ORB fitting "hand tight".
6. Using a wrench, tighten one additional turn.
7. Continue to tighten up to an additional one full turn to orientate NPT fitting to your desired position.
8. While holding the ORB fitting body securely with a wrench, torque the hose end nut to 15 ft-lbs.
9. Purge system per applicable instruction manual.
CAUTION! Secure with wrench here while installing NPT fitting and hose end nut.
WARNING! Check the hose and the hose fittings on a regular basis to ensure the safe operation of the steering
system.
