Wheel nut management system
SKF Lug Locks install onto hub piloted wheel nuts and inter-connect to provide an early alert
that a wheel nut has turned and is in need of re-torque. If the open triangle on the wing
shows on the SKF Lug Lock, re-torque wheel nut.
To ensure the alert system functions correctly, carefully follow instructions below. Otherwise,
the SKF Lug Lock alert system may not work.
SKF Lug Lock removal:
1. Pry 2 or 3 lug locks to the edge of the nut. A small screwdriver may be used.
(Do not pry the locking wing area.)
2. Working in a circular manner, pry off the remaining lug locks with your fingers.
(Do not pry on the locking wing area.)
3. If lug lock appears damaged, replace with new lug lock.
SKF Lug Lock installation:
1. Clean wheel nut.
2. Push first lug lock onto the edge of the wheel nut @ 12 o-clock position.
The SKF Lug Locks will follow the curve of the center circle of the rim.
3. Working counterclockwise, install lug locks onto remaining wheel nuts ensuring each lug
lock clicks into the previous one until the ring is complete.
4. With the palm, push each lug lock onto nut until the outer face of the lug lock is flush
with the outer wheel nut face. This leaves a 1/4" to 1/2" gap between the lug lock and the
rim. Do not push the lug lock all the way onto the wheel nut. It can make removal difficult.
