Apply Silicone Sealant.

1. Install the Trim
Apply silicone sealant to the back inside edge of the escutcheon
following the manufacturer's instructions. Do not use plumbers
putty.
Make sure the drain hole is not blocked.
Align the escutcheon over the flange with the long single mark
pointed directly up and the drain (arch shaped opening) on the
bottom.
Press the collar over the flange to secure the escutcheon in place.
Remove any excess sealant.
Press the stem extension (thick wall installations) or spline
adapter (thin wall installations) over the valve stem.
