PROFIBUS Communication Module for 3RW44 Soft Starter
Read and understand these instructions before installing, operating, or maintaining the equipment.
DANGER

Hazardous voltage.
Will cause death or serious injury.
Disconnect power before working on equipment.
CAUTION
The shield of the PROFIBUS-DP cable must be brought to the
grounding potential of the equipment.
NOTICE
It is not permitted to use the PROFIBUS communication module in IT systems with ground-fault monitoring.
1. Inserting the PROFIBUS communication module
CAUTION
Danger of material damage.
Before inserting the PROFIBUS communication module de-
energize the 3RW44 soft starter.
Proceed as follows:
1. Remove the cover as shown in Fig. 1 on page 22.
2. Insert the PROFIBUS communication module into the device as shown in Fig. 2 on page 22.
3. Fasten the PROFIBUS communication module with the attached screws.
4. Insert the PROFIBUS connecting cable into the socket of the communication module.
5. Switch on the supply voltage.
The PROFIBUS LED flashes yellow. The communication module has been inserted correctly,
but has not yet been activated.
2. Activating the PROFIBUS communication module
Activate the "Fieldbus" device function
a) via the display or
b)via the device interface using the "Soft Starter ES Professional" software.
NOTICE
After the communication module has been activated, default control priority automatically switches
from the inputs to the PROFIBUS communication module.
If an input with the "operator terminal" function is active, the control priority does not change.

Reliable functioning of the equipment is only ensured with certified
components.
