• To assure maximum performance from your new speakers,
please read through this operating guide before you install
or use them. After you have finished reading this operating

BASIC NOTES ON THE SP-T22A-LR
The SP-T22A-LR is an add-on speaker that converts a
conventional home theater speaker system into a Dolby
Atmos
sound system. The SP-T22A-LR is designed to
®
bounce sound off your ceiling to immerse you in the dramatic
surround-sound effects of your Dolby Atmos-enabled content.
In order to use the SP-T22A-LR, you will need an A/V receiver
or surround-sound processor equipped with Dolby Atmos
processing.
We designed the SP-T22A-LR to sit atop the Pioneer
SP-BS22-LR bookshelf speaker and SP-FS52 tower
speaker, but it can also be used with any tower or
bookshelf speaker that has a flat top. Simply place
the SP-T22A-LR atop your existing speakers, with the
SP-T22A-LR positioned so its driver is angled in the
same direction the speakers are facing.
You can start by using one SP-T22A-LR atop each of your
front main (left and right) speakers. To achieve a more
dramatic effect from Dolby Atmos, add another SP-T22A-LR
atop each of your rear surround speakers.
The serial number for the equipment is located on the rear of the product. Please write this serial num-
product.

with "4-16Ω" displayed on the speaker output terminals).
• In order to prevent damage to the speaker resulting from
input overload, please observe the following precautions:
– Do not supply power to the speaker in excess of the
maximum rated power.
– When connecting or disconnecting cables, be sure
amplifier power is OFF.
– Do not use excessive amplifier volume if using a graphic
equalizer to emphasize high or low frequencies.
CONNECTING YOUR SYSTEM
IMPORTANT: Make sure all equipment is turned off before
making any connections. Correct wiring of your loudspeakers
is essential for achieving the best sound quality. Be careful
to ensure proper polarity (+/-) of connection. We recommend
a minimum of 18 gauge for runs up to 25 feet, and thicker for
longer runs.
Most loudspeaker cable is coded to ease this task. Typically
the ribbed or striped side, or the side with the connector
marked in red or white, is connected to the positive (red)
terminal. Make sure that the amplifier positive (red) terminal
is connected to the loudspeaker positive (red) terminal, and
that the amplifier negative (black) terminal is connected to the
loudspeaker negative (black) terminal.
If the wires you're using are not already terminated with banana
plugs, spade lugs, etc., strip off ½" of insulation from the ends
of the cable, twist the bare strands and insert into the binding
posts. Take care that no stray strands of wire short across
between the terminals.
Connect the other speakers in your
surround-sound system as you
normally would. Then connect
the height-channel outputs of
your Dolby Atmos-enabled A/V
receiver (or surround processor
and amplifier) to the SP-T22A-LR.
Make sure that you connect the
left and right channel signals
from the receiver to the left and
right SP-T22A-LRs, respectively.
Repeat the process if you are
using SP-T22A-LRs for the rear
channels as well.
