Promed T-6 is a two output channels TENS device and highly
effective in relieving pain. It is intended for symptomatic relief and

management of chronic (long term) intractable pain and or as an
adjunctive treatment in the management of post surgical and post
traumatic acute pain problem. TENS stands for Transcutaneous

Electrical Nerve Stimulation is recognized as a safe and highly
effective method of relieving pain. TENS is now regularly recom-

mended by doctors, physiotherapists and pharmacists throughout
the world. Before using, please read all the instructions in this user
manual carefully and keep it safe for future reference.

What is pain?
Pain is the body's own early warning system. Feeling pain is
ES
important, as it indicates an abnormal condition within the body
and serves as a warning to us before any further damage or injury
occurs. However, long-term, persistent pains – often known as
NL
chronic pain – serve no obvious useful purpose once a diagnosis
has been made. TENS was developed to soothe or eliminate certain
RU
types of chronic and acute pain.
We differentiate between two types of pain:
PL
• Acute pain
as a chief symptom can often help the doctor with diagnosis and the
SE
acute pain has a protective function for the patient.
• Chronic pain
FI
can often become part of the illness in itself. A patient suffering from
chronic pain will often suffer for years and experiences changes in
his/her personality structure.
EXPLANATION OF TENS
Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation (TENS) is a non-
invasive, drug free method of controlling pain. TENS uses tiny
electrical impulses sent through the skin to nerves to modify your
pain perception. TENS does not cure any physiological problem;
it only helps control the pain. TENS does not work for everyone;
however, in most patients it is effective in reducing or eliminating the
pain, allowing for a return to normal activity.
How does TENS work?
Promed T-6 works by passing harmless electrical signals into the
body from the electrode pads. This relieves pain in two ways:
• Firstly, it blocks the body's pain signals which are normally
transmitted from the area of damage through the nerve fibres to
the brain - TENS interrupts these pain signals.
• Secondly, TENS stimulates the body's production of endorphins
– its own natural painkillers.
Possible TENS applications
Generally the Promed T-6 shall be used for the following medical
indications or the following complaints as a TENS unit for treatment:
• For symptomatic relief of chronic intractable pain
• For post traumatic pain (acute pain occurring)
• For post surgical pain (pain caused by surgery)
