2. Scope of application

The MOTUS
IO-Link is a networkable hybrid motor starter with a reversing function and current
monitoring. It features the following functions:
•
CW rotation
•
ACW rotation
•
Motor overload protection
•
Short-circuit protection
•
Emergency stop to performance level PLe
•
Connection to IO-Link systems
The internal inter-locking circuit and load wiring minimise the wiring costs.
The control commands for ACW and CW rotation are received via an IO-Link communication
interface.
The device is designed for sinusoidal symmetrical three-phase networks. The functions require a
sinusoidal balanced 3-phase load. The MOTUS
upstream or downstream of frequency inverters.
To ensure correct function, current must not be allowed to flow "past" the MOTUS
(5 mA limit). Insulation faults or a connection of the motor coil to a potential that is not passed via
®
the MOTUS
(for example star point with the neutral conductor) can generate a fault message.
This fault is registered permanently in fault memory. For functional safety reasons, the device
must be replaced if the fault is detected repeatedly. MOTUS
for class A environments (industry). This device can cause unwanted radio interference in class
B (residential) environments. In this case the user may be required to implement appropriate
measures.
