If the supply is not interrupted by pressing the ON-OFF button (5), the system is
designed to interrupt it automatically after about 90 seconds. This is equal to about
250 cc of liquid supplied.
• remove the cup.
• Lift the lever by unloading the capsule used in the capsule container (8), which can contain
up to 12 capsules.
WARNINGS
Never leave the used capsule in the appliance.
If the machine was used to prepare other drinks/food (tea, malt, etc.), clean the system
by running the machine without capsules to eliminate any residue from the last time it
was used.
Always make sure the water in the tank is above the minimum level and that the tank itself is
always well attached to the machine.
The machine has an internal timer that puts the system in stand-by mode after about 20 minutes,
if not used. The stand-by mode is indicated by the flashing red light on the ON-OFF button (5)
and by the lights on the tank and supply compartment being off.
To go back to normal operation, press the ON-OFF button (5) and wait for the button's light to turn
white. You can now go ahead with the supply as described above.
Condensation may form between the capsule loading lever (3) and the plastic casing
and the loading drawer and the plastic casing. This is due to normal operation and is
not a fault.
NO WATER
If there is no water, the pump becomes noisier and you will hear a rumbling sound inside the
water tank.
WARNINGS
Disconnect the water from the mains before filling up the tank.
Use water with a hardness value below 20°f (French degrees).
Fill up the tank with water, making sure you do not exceed the maximum level (10) and resume
normal use.
MAINTENANCE AND CLEANING
Always pull the plug from the mains. Wait for all the machine parts to cool down completely. Take
out the discharge drawer (7), which also includes the capsule container (7);(see figure 00). Take
out the capsule container (8) from the discharge drawer (see figure 00), empty it and rinse the
container (8) and the discharge drawer (7).
Take out the tank
The discharge drawer, used capsules container and tank can be washed with running water.
The body of the machine can be cleaned with a damp cloth.
Dry all machine parts carefully before putting them back.
WARNINGS
Never immerse the machine in water.
Do not use water that has been left in the tank for a few days.
Do not dry the machine nor its parts with a microwave oven or a traditional oven.
DESCALING
It is essential to periodically carry out descaling to ensure the machine is in perfect working order.
This is especially important if the machine is not going to be used for several days (for example,
before leaving to go on holiday). It prevents limescale from solidifying which would permanently
damage the gaskets and pump.
Every 500 cycles, the electronic system reports the need to descale the machine (the lights on the
ON/OFF button, the dispenser compartment and underneath the tank start flashing). The machine
will continue to work normally. The lights will resume normal operation if you simply press the ON/
OFF button for 10 seconds.
To descale the machine, you can use products available on the market specifically designed for
coffee machines and that are not toxic nor harmful, together with clear instructions about how
to prepare them.
To carry out the descaling process we recommend following this method:
1. Pour the descaling solution, prepared based on the instructions reported on the packaging,
into the tank.
2. Make sure there are no used capsules in the capsule housing (4)
3. Lower the loading lever (3)
4. Place a cup on the grid of the discharge drawer (7)
5. Turn the machine on, as if you were preparing a coffee and as explained in the paragraph
"Making an espresso"
6. Operate the pump until you use all the descaling solution in the tank (perform several
cycles if necessary)
WARNINGS
After descaling the machine, let it cool down for a few minutes before going ahead with cleaning.
Do not use vinegar, under any circumstances, for descaling purposes.
Damage caused by limescale is not covered by the warranty.
Follow the manufacturer's instructions, reported on the packaging, on how to prepare the solution
to deal with limescale.
Fratelli Guzzini Spa declines any responsibility for damage caused by failure to follow the above-
mentioned directions.
