SERVICE- AND CLEANING
INSTRUCTIONS
The hose reel should be treated as a part of other
machinery and be cleaned according to the current
cleaning procedure plan. In addition the reel should be
cleaned and checked periodically according to the
following instructions A-D.
A. Once a day
1. Pull the hose out completely.
2. Rinse the hose with clean water. Use
a water temperature of 40–50 °C.
B. Once a month
1. Pull the hose out completely.
2. Foam the reel and hose with an
alkaline detergent solution for example
Henkel 2–5 % P3-topax 66 or P3-topac-
tive 200.
3. Rinse the reel with clean water. Use
low pressure and a water temperature
of 40–50 °C. Avoid rinsing directly
against any seals.
4. Disinfect the reel. Use for example
Henkel 1–2 % P3-topax 91 / P3-triquart
or P3-topax 99.
5. Contact time for the disinfection
solution according to recommendations
from the manufacturer.
6. Rinse the reel with clean water at the
latest before start of production. Avoid
rinsing directly against any seals.
HOSE REEL
C. Once every three months
(picture 1)
Dismantle the hose outlet and clean the parts
manually.
D At least once a year
Check the external seals of the reel (picture 2a) If any
of the seals is damaged or if water has leaked in to the
drum (check drips from the drum), the reel should be
dismantled and all the seals be changed. If the exter-
nal packings of the swivel are damaged or if the swivel
leaks, the swivel packings should be changed.

Before starting any operation in the reel
1.
Turn off the supply of media (water).
2.
Release the spring tension by removing tool
connected to the hose, dismantle the hose
outlet and allow the hose to recoil
completely.
3.
Loosen the intake hose from the swivel.
4.
Remove the reel from wall or ceiling.
5.
Remove the hose turn by turn from the side of the
drum.
6.
Unscrew the dome nuts.
7.
Pull the drum from the shaft. Do not remove the
drum side with spring cassettes from the shaft.
8.
Clean the reel internally.
9.
Assemble the reel. Note that the eight fixing
screws on the drum are positioned with unequal
pitch, which means that only one fixing position
against the drum side is possible.
10.
Fit the hose turn by turn from the side of the drum.
11.
Tension the spring by turning the drum in the
outdraw direction of the hose, with all hose wound
on, 1 revolution with 25 m 3/8"-hose, 3 revolutions
with 25 m 1/2"-hose, 8 revolutions with 18 m
3/4"-hose or 13 revolutions with 10 m 1"-hose.
12.
Secure the drum with the safety loop.
13.
Fit the hose outlet.
14.
Refit the reel in position.
15.
Remove the safety loop.
16.
Fit the intake hose on the swivel.
17.
Fit appropriate water gun on the distribution hose.
18.
Turn on the supply of media (water).
19.
Check that the required length of hose can be
pulled out without stretching the spring to its limit.
