ing or the battery compartment cover on the underside of the meter.
Before accessing the battery compartment it may be necessary to
slide off the cover of the meter casing. Connect the battery accord-
ing to its terminal marking, close the casing or battery compartment
cover. If a battery symbol appears on the screen, the battery must
be replaced. For the sake of measurement accuracy, it is recom-
mended to replace the battery as soon as possible after the battery
symbol appears.
Fuse replacement
The instrument uses a fast-acting safety fuse. In case of damage,
replace the fuse with a new one with identical electrical parameters.
To do so, open the meter's casing, following the same procedure as
in the case of battery replacement and following the safety rules,
replace the fuse with a new one.
Switching the meter on and off
Setting the measurement switch to the OFF position will turn off
the meter. The remaining switch positions activate the meter and
permit selection of the measured quantity and its range. The me-
ter turns off automatically if not in use. After about 15 minutes of
inactivity, the meter will automatically turn off . This will reduce
battery consumption. Approximately one minute before turning off
the power supply, the user will be notifi ed by means of an audible
signal and a fl ashing diode underneath the LCD display. The power
supply of the meter will be restored after pressing the SELECT/
HOLD/* button. When switched on, the meter displays the APO
symbol, which means that it operates in the automatic power off
mode in case of inactivity on the part of the user.
SELECT/HOLD/* button
The button is used to manually select the range when using quanti-
ty measurements which can be measured using automatic ranging,
to select the measurand for settings described several times, or to
retain the measured value on the display in the case of measure-
ments taken within the ranges selected by means of the selector.
When pressed, the button will keep the currently displayed value
on the display, even after the measurement is over. Press the but-
ton again to go back to the measurement mode. The operation of
the function is indicated on the meter display with the HOLD sign.
Pressing and holding the button for approx. 2 seconds will illumi-
nate the display of the meter. The backlight goes off automatically
after several seconds.
Connecting test leads
If the test lead plugs are capped, the caps must be removed before
plugging the leads into the jacks. Connect the leads in accordance
with the instructions in the manual. Now remove the covers (if any)
of the measuring parts and proceed with the measurements.

MEASUREMENT PROCEDURE

Depending on the current position of the range switch, the display
will show three digits. If the battery needs to be replaced, the mul-
timeter indicates this by showing the battery symbol on the display.
If the sign "–" appears on the display before the measured value,
it means that it has a reversed polarity relative to the meter's con-
nection. If an overload symbol appears on the display, it means that
the measuring range has been exceeded and the measuring range
must be changed to a higher one.
If the scale of the measured value is not known, set the highest
measuring range and reduce it after reading the measured value.
The measurement of small quantities with a high measuring range
involves the greatest measurement error.
If the selector is set to measure alternating current or voltage, the
T-RMS symbol will be displayed. This means that the real eff ective
value of the alternating wave will be measured. If a non-sine wave
is measured, the actual RMS value of the wave will be rendered.
Special care should be taken when measuring quantities within the
highest voltage range to avoid electric shock.

CAUTION! Never allow the measuring range of the meter to be
smaller than the measured value. This can damage the meter
and cause electric shock.
The correct connection of the leads is:
The red lead goes in the jack marked "INPUT", "mA" or "10A".
The black lead goes in the jack marked "COM".
In order to achieve the highest possible measurement accuracy,
optimal measurement conditions should be ensured. The ambient
working temperature should be in the range from 18 to 28
relative air humidity <75%.
Example of accuracy determination
Accuracy: ± (% of indication + weight of the least signifi cant digit)
Measurement of DC voltage: 1.396 V
Accuracy: ±(0.8% + 5)
Calculation of error: 1.396 x 0.8% + 5 x 0.001 = 0.011168 + 0.005
= 0.016168
Measurement result: 1.396 V ± 0.016 V
Voltage measurement
Connect the test leads to the jacks marked "INPUT" and "COM".
Set the range switch to the DC voltage or AC voltage measurement
position. Connect the test leads in parallel to an electrical circuit
and read the resultant voltage. Never measure a voltage which is
higher than the maximum measuring range. This can damage the
meter and cause electric shock.
Current measurement
Depending on the expected current, connect the test leads to the
mA and COM jacks or the 20A and COM jacks. Select the appropri-
ate measuring range using the knob. The maximum current fl owing
through the mA jack can be 200 mA. If the current exceeds 200 mA,
connect the lead to the 20A jack. The maximum current measured
in the 20A jack may be 20 A, but the time to measure currents high-
er than 2 A must not exceed 15 seconds, after which there must be
a break of minimum 15 minutes before the next measurement. The
mA socket can be loaded with a maximum current of 200 mA with-
out a time limit. It is forbidden to exceed the maximum values
of currents and voltages for a given jack. The test leads must be
connected in series to the tested electrical circuit. Select the range
and type of measured current by means of a switch and read the
measurement result. Start by selecting the maximum measuring
range. The measuring range can be changed in order to obtain
more accurate measurement results.
Resistance measurement
Connect the test leads to the jacks marked "INPUT" and "COM"
and set the range switch to the resistance measurement position.
Touch the probes to the terminals of the measured element and
read the measurement result. In order to obtain more accurate
measurement results, change the measuring range if necessary. It
is absolutely forbidden to measure the resistance of elements
through which electric current is fl owing. For measurements
greater than 1 MΩ, the measurement may take a few seconds be-
fore the readout becomes stable, which is the normal response for
high resistance measurements.
Before touching the probes to the terminals of the workpiece, an
overload symbol is shown on the display.
Capacitance measurement
Connect the test leads to the jacks marked INPUT and COM, set
the range switch to the capacitance measurement position. Make
sure that the capacitor has been discharged before the measure-
ment. Never measure the capacitance of a charged capacitor
as this can damage the meter and cause electric shock. When
measuring high-capacitance capacitors, the measurement may
take about 30 seconds before the result becomes stable.
When measuring small capacitances, to obtain a more accurate
result, subtract the capacitance of the meter and the test leads.
