Prior to the launching of the pumps and commencement of the filtration process, the filter should be filled with water.
This operation can be carried out without necessity of opening the filter, with the use of appropriate mechanism, which
determines the convenience of use of filters of this series. This mechanism draws in water from the aquarium, and its
operation and maintenance are described in detail in section 6.1.
NOTES:
• The filter can service only one aquarium! The attempt to use the filter for two aquaria simultaneously will inevitably lead
to a situation where the water level in one of the tanks will descend and raise in the other one, which will cause flooding of the
room! [Even though the process can proceed very slowly, but it will happen certainly].
• In case of overheating (e.g. seized rotor of either pump due to litter or dry operation), the thermal switch installed in
the pumps will disconnect them from the electric power supply until they have cooled down. Switching back on will take
place automatically.
• In case of overheating of the stabilizer of the UV sterilizer (caused e.g. by its inconsiderate covering or damage to the star-
ter built into the special ultraviolet fluorescent lamp), the thermal switch installed in the stabilizer disconnects the sterilizer
from the power supply until it has cooled down. The lamp signaling operation of the sterilizer goes out. Switching back on will
take place automatically.
• The signal diode placed on the plug stabilizer of the UV sterilizer signals its operation all the time.
Optimal and failure-free operation of the filter may be achieved exclusively with original parts and filtration media by
AQUAEL. These media are precisely matched for the UNIMAX Professional filters.
• Prior to installation and each time launch of the device, make sure you have acquainted yourself in detail with the
present operation and assembly instructions.
• Filters of the UNIMAX Professional series in all versions are manufactured according to currently valid safety stan-
dards of the European Union, they are intended exclusively for aquarial purposes and should be used only indoors for
liquids of temperatures up to 35°C.
• Prior to every operation connected with filter maintenance or service – e.g. assembly, insert replacement, cleaning
– and always before reaching into the water, both the filter and all electric devices present in the aquarium should be
disconnected from power supply.
• Electric conduits may not be replaced or repaired. No switches or circuit breakers may be installed on electric con-
duits. In case of damage to the pimps wiring the entire cover (1) should be replaced, and in case of damage to the UV
lamp cord (in versions FZKN PLUS), the complete sterilizer housing (44) must be replaced.
• It is prohibited to operate the filter and any other electric devices with mechanical damage, e.g. cracked or with
damaged electric conduits.
• The device may be launched only in a power grid whose parameters (voltage and frequency) are identical with the
values given on the device and in technical data of the present manual.
• During operation the filter must be filled with water and must not be allowed to operate dry.
• The UV sterilizer produces radiation harmful to the skin and eyes. Never turn it on while out of its housing!
