In case where you do not install the UV sterilizer in the filter, the flow cover (12) may be put aside, for in these conditions
it is not required in the filter.
Fig. 8. Some filtration inserts, placed in foil, should be unpacked from disposable bags and poured back in. the magazines
– both now and later, during replacement of filtration media – may be filled only to the level just below the internal
thickening „A".
CAUTION: It is not allowed to place too much filtration material, because otherwise the magazines (9) will not be
securely and precisely set on each other.
Fig. 9. The filtration media (26), (27) and (28), should be rinsed in the magazines (9) under running water, and placed one
by one in the container (11). The recommended order of their placement has been presented in a table in chapter 3. The
catches of the magazines should be tilted all the way, concealing them inside the magazines.
The bottom magazine will press on the flow cover (12), securing it in place [only in case of application of the UV sterilizer].
Subsequent magazines should be placed in such way as for their bottom edge to rest on the thickening of the lower
magazine according to fig. 8.
For a while, as the last one place the top magazine (9) with sponge (24), verifying this way whether any of the preceding
magazines does not contain too much filtrating material.
Fig. 10. Prior to placement of the cover (1) you should verify whether:
• the main gasket (8) is placed in its groove,
• the covers of the rotor chambers (6 and 7) are placed on the pump chambers, and screwed anticlockwise until refusal,
• the internal bend (5) is pressed until refusal into the opening of the rotor chamber cover (7) [these elements are best
visible in figure 24.],
• the de-aeration hose (4) is connected to stub „A" of the second cover of the rotor chamber (6), and the other end of this
hose is connected to stub „B" of the valve (2) [this is best visible in figures 24. and 25.].
Fig. 11. Remove the top magazine with sponge (9, 24) from the container (11), place on it the cover (23) and insert in the
recess of the filter cover (1), carefully guiding it and pressing until refusal – see the arrow on the drawing.
The complete cover (1), along with the just mounted assembly, should carefully be placed on the container (11) and
secured with al the catches (10).
NOTES:
• When putting on the cover (1) you should make sure that the edge of the container (11) cones exactly on the main gasket (8).
• The proper manner of closing the catches: in pairs on opposite sides of the cover (1).

5.4. Positioning of the filter and assembly of external elements

Fig. 12. Prior to allocation of a place for the filter, acquaintance with the content of this manual is recommended. The filter
should be placed in upright position, so that the difference between the water level in the aquarium and the level of the
filter base does not exceed 160 cm. Whereas the upper filter surface should be located at least 10 cm below the water
level in the aquarium.
Fig. 13. On the edge of the aquarium – possibly far from each other – you should place two sets of overflow pipes (34) and
secure them with clamp bolts (33). [In the figure: we see the aquarium from the outside, only 1 set is shown.] One such set will
serve for drawing water in from the aquarium (filter inlets), and the other will return filtered water back to the aquarium
(filter outlets). There are two pumps operating in the filter, therefore both the inlet and outlet water lines are double.
Elastic conduits (18) need not be fastened yet, this will be done later – see description at figures 16-17.
Fig. 14. The figure – looking from the inside of the aquarium – shows an example of inlet element layout. The manner of
placement of the inlet elements may be adapted to the shape of the specific aquarium. We may only point out that later,
during automatic flooding of the filter with water drawn in form the aquarium, the water level in the aquarium will sig-
nificantly drop. During this operation, water from the aquarium will flow to the filter in the quantity of ca. 13-14 liters (the
case of FZKN 500) or ca. 18-19 l (the case of FZKN 700), and the drawing elements, that is the drawing pipe (38) and/or the
drawing basket (40) even at the end of this process should be in total submersion. Therefore, using appropriate quantity
of connecting pipes (35), the parts (38) and (40) should be submerged as deep as possible.
Fig. 15. The figure – also from the inside – shows the temporary layout of outlet elements. Why „temporary"? An explana-
tion is due here:
