Routine maintenance

8.1
Safety rules for routine maintenance
Routine maintenance involves a series of simple operations to be
performed at regular intervals and according to the manufacturer's
instructions. The Manufacturer has reduced the number and
complexity of routine maintenance operations to enable them to be
performed by personnel without technical expertise or complex
equipment. It involves above all:
Checking battery fluid levels;
Replacing parts subject to wear;
Cleaning external surfaces and internal parts.
IMPORTANT - Failure to observe the following
safety rules may cause injury, death or damage to
equipment. IMPORTANT - All maintenance must be
performed with the machine off. Do not allow
personnel not involved in maintenance to approach
the machine
IMPORTANT - During maintenance, the personal
protection devices provided must be worn.
8.2
Safety regulat. for cleaning the machine
IMPORTANT - Failure to observe the following safety
rules may cause injury, death or damage to
equipment.
All cleaning operations must be performed with the machine
stationary and turned off.
When cleaning the machine or its components, the following
precautions must be observed:
Do not clean electrical equipment with water or other fluids. To
remove dust, use a clean brush or dry cloth only. Do not clean
plastic surfaces with alcohol, detergent or solvents. Dispose of
cleaning materials in respect of current legislation. Do not
dispose of the materials used or cleaning residues in the
environment. To clean, use compressed air and soft cloths.
IMPORTANT - During cleaning, personnel protection devices
must be worn
IMPORTANT –- Do not use solvents to clean the
machine as there is a risk of fire due to
electrostatic discharges caused by rotation of the
brushes. Do not direct jets of water at the machine:
The IP 33 degree of protection does not guarantee
insulation of the electrical components from water.
8.3
Safety regulations for repairs and
extraordinary maintenance
The Manufacturer recommends contacting authorised service
centres for all operations over and above normal routine
maintenance (replacing brushes, etc). It should be noted that the
warranty offered by the manufacturer is invalidated if:
The instructions given in the "use and maintenance"
manual are not scrupulously respected,
Repairs or maintenance are performed by unqualified
personnel;
Non-original spare parts are used;
Unsuitable tools are used.
IMPORTANT - The customer is responsible for
verifying that original parts only are used when
carrying out repairs. The use of non-original spare
parts could jeopardise the safety of the machine. All
operations must be performed by qualified personnel
with the necessary technical skills to perform the
operations in the maximum safety and in respect of
current legislation.
8.4
Routine maintenance
All maintenance operations should be performed with the machine
tilted to allow access from the bottom. This must not be done with
the batteries in position. Before tilting the machine, remove the
batteries.
IMPORTANT – Do not tilt the machine with the
batteries mounted: remove the batteries and tilt the
machine.
8.4.1
Battery charging
To charge the batteries, proceed as described in paragraph. Charge
the batteries when they are flat (check the charge indicator light).
After checking the correct battery charge, proceed as follows:
Make sure all functions of the machine are turned off;
Turn the main switch to the OFF position;
Charge the battery.
8.4.2
Battery electrolyte level
Top up the level of electrolyte in the batteries regularly with distilled
or demineralised water up to 10 mm below the elements. If the
battery is dry, you should contact an authorised service centre.
Fill with electrolyte with a density of 1.27-1.28 at 20° in
each element up to 10 mm above each element.
Wait at least an hour before charging.
8.4.3
Battery maintenance
Keep all contacts and poles clean and dry;
Charge the batteries immediately after use;
If the machine is not used for a long period, charge the battery
before storing the machine and again just before using it;
Charging should take from 5 to 6 hours.
8.4.4
Replacing the batteries
See procedure described in paragraph "Installation".
8.4.5
Replacing the brush
To replace the brush, proceed as follows:
Tilt the machine on one side;
Remove the screws fixing the brush to the shaft.
