DRAINING FUEL TANK/CARBURETOR
See Figures 21 - 23.
To help prevent gum deposits in the fuel system, drain the
fuel from the tank and carburetor before storing.
DRAINING THE FUEL TANK
 Turn the engine switch OFF ( O ).
 Turn the fuel valve to the OFF (O ) position.
 Remove the fuel line from the hose barb by squeezing
the end of the retaining clip and sliding the fuel line off.
NOTE: Make sure you are removing the fuel line that runs
between the fuel valve and the carburetor, NOT the line
that runs between the fuel valve and the fuel tank.
 Place the fuel line with fuel valve in a fuel container large
enough to catch the fuel being drained from the tank.
 Turn the fuel valve to the ON ( l ) position.
 When the fuel has drained from the tank, close the fuel
valve and reinstall fuel line securely on hose barb.
DRAINING THE CARBURETOR
 Turn the engine switch OFF ( O ).
 Turn the fuel valve to the OFF ( O ) position.
 Position a suitable container under the carburetor drain
screw to catch fuel; loosen the screw.
 Allow fuel to drain completely into container.
 Retighten drain screw.
NOTE: Consult hazardous waste management guidelines in
your area for the proper way to dispose of used fuel.
REPLACING FUEL FILTER
See Figure 24.
Occasionally the fuel filter may become clogged and need
to be replaced. To purchase a replacement fuel filter, contact
customer service or a qualified service center.
NOTE: Fuel tank must be empty before replacing fuel filter.
Run unit until tank is empty, if needed, or inspect filter prior
to fill-up.
To replace:
 Turn the fuel valve to the OFF ( O ) position.
 Remove both fuel lines from the old fuel filter by squeezing
the ends of the retaining clips and sliding the fuel lines
off.
 Reinstall fuel lines to the new fuel filter.
 Pull on lines to make sure they are secured
 Turn the fuel valve to the ON ( I ) position.
MAINTENANCE
TRANSPORTING
 Turn the engine switch OFF ( O ).
 Disconnect any equipment that is plugged into the gen-
erator.
 Turn the fuel valve to the OFF ( O ) position.
 Allow 30 minutes of "cool down" time before storing the
machine. Make sure engine and exhaust of unit are cool.
 For security, insert the pins to secure the handles before
transporting.
 Tilt the machine toward you until it balances on the wheels,
then roll the machine to the desired location.
 If transporting in a vehicle, drain the fuel tank, close fuel
valve, and securely restrain the generator.
 Provide a plastic sheet or absorbent pad below the gen-
erator to catch any drips of fuel or lubricant.
CHANGING ENGINE BATTERY CHARGE
CIRCUIT FUSE
See Figure 25.
NOTICE:
Do not use a higher rated fuse other than the specified
amperage. This could cause damage to the product.
 Open the fuse holder.
 Remove the old fuse by pulling straight out.
 Insert new 5 amp ATO blade-type fuse.
 Close cover.
BATTERY REMOVAL AND PREPARATION
FOR RECYCLING
Consult your local waste authority for information regarding
available recycling and/or disposal options.
WARNING:
Upon removal, cover the battery's terminals with
heavy-duty adhesive tape. Do not attempt to destroy or
disassemble battery or remove any of its components.
Lead acid batteries must be recycled or disposed of
properly. Also, never touch both terminals with metal
objects and/or body parts as short circuit may result.
Keep away from children. Failure to comply with these
warnings could result in fire and/or serious injury.
