APPLICATION
NOTE
Always check the manufacturer's recommendations to make sure the drive belt is properly
assembled.
WARNING! You must NOT take out a drive belt until the camshaft and the crankshaft wheel(s) have
been locked in OT-position.
Incorrect assembly of a drive belt may damage your engine. Rotate the crankshaft manually two turns
in the engine's direction and check the engine timing again before starting it.
ASSEMBLY
1. Take out all components (drive belt cover, pulley, clamping fixture etc.) that constrict the drive
belt's replacement.
2. Spin the crankshaft up to the upper dead centre of the first cylinder and apply the crankshaft
locking device.
3. Keep spinning the crankshaft carefully until locking device 3 fits in and you can assemble the
camshaft locking tool as followed: The camshaft wheels should be aligned to the check marks,
now. Put the locking tool 1 (red) in between the wheels on the right-hand cylinder row, the locking
tool 2 (green) in between the wheels on the left-hand cylinder row. All camshaft wheels are locked
now.
4. Now, the crankshaft locking device can be adjusted, so that crankshaft holds onto the locking jaw
and on the pump body in OT-position.
5. As soon as all locking tools are applied, you may loosen the tensioning device and take out the
worn out drive belt. We recommend the replacement of all deflection and belt pulleys at the same
time.
6. Assemble the new drive belt. Check its correct alignment!!! All check marks of the belt must be
aligned to the check marks of the camshaft wheels. The arrow must point into the correct
rotational direction.
Alignment to crankshaft mark
Adjusting the camshaft with the adjustment gauge
7. Apply the gauge with the crankshaft locked in OT-position to the camshaft wheels and judge its
setting.
8. If the check marks of the camshaft wheels are in front of the gauge's check marks, you can adjust
the setting by spinning the lower drive belt guide counterclockwise.
9. If the check marks of the camshaft wheels are behind the gauge's check marks, you can adjust
the setting by spinning the lower drive belt guide clockwise.
10. Tighten all screws and pulleys in accordance to the manufacturer's recommendations and
reassemble the vehicle again.
