1 Prepare Your Device
2 Activate Your Device and Make Your First Call
> Activate Your Treo
If you bought your Treo at a Sprint Store, your device should be activated and ready
to use.
If you received your Treo in the mail and it is a new Sprint account or a new line of
service, you need to take these steps to activate it:
1. Turn on the phone feature. (Press Power/End and if prompted, press Center
to turn off Keyguard. Next, press and hold Power/End .)
2. Press Start
> Internet Explorer. (There is no charge for this service
during activation.)
3. Follow the onscreen prompts to update your profile and activate your Treo. A
message is displayed when the process is completed.
4. Wait for the phone feature to turn off and then back on. If this does not occur, press
and hold Power/End to turn it off and then press and hold Power/End to
turn it back on.
5. To confirm your activation, make a phone call.
If you received your Treo in the mail and are activating a new phone for an existing
number on your account, contact Sprint Customer Service to activate your new device.
There are two activation options:
• From your computer's Web browser, go to www.sprint.com/activate and complete
the onscreen instructions to activate your Treo.

• Call 1-888-211-4727 from another phone for assistance with activation.
When you have finished, make a phone call to confirm your activation.
4 Connect to Your Computer
> Install the Software
Windows XP: You must install the software that came with your Treo, even if you
already have synchronization software installed on your computer.
Windows Vista: You may not need to install software from the CD. However,
we recommend that you follow the CD installation steps to ensure that the
synchronization software is loaded on your computer and to install the User Guide.
• Insert the Getting Started CD into your computer's CD drive and follow the onscreen
instructions for installing the software.
6 Manage Your Account

• Make a payment, see your bills, enroll in online billing.
• Check minute usage and account balance.
• See or modify the details of your Sprint service plan.
• Get detailed instructions and download content.

> Insert the Battery
1. Gently press the battery door and slide it down to remove it.
2. Align the battery contacts with the contacts in the compartment, and then gently press
the battery down until it clicks into place.
3. Replace the battery door.
> Charge the Battery
1. Plug the AC charger into an outlet.
2. Plug the other end of the charger into the microUSB connector on the bottom of your

> Make a Call
1. Go to your Today screen. (If the screen is off, press Power/End and then press
Center
to disable Keyguard. If you are in another application, press Power/End .)
2. Press the number keys to enter the phone number you want to call.
3. Press Phone/Talk to make the call.
4. When you're finished, press Power/End to end the call.

1. Connect your Treo and your computer.
2. Follow the onscreen instructions for setting up synchronization.
3. To check for synchronization progress:
• Windows XP: Look for the ActiveSync
and the ActiveSync
icon in the taskbar on your computer.
• Windows Vista: Look for the animated connection
on your Treo.
4. When synchronization is complete, press Start
