3) UNIT COMPONENT-PARTS
The gensets of the EASY-D series are single-phase and/or three-phase A.C. synchronous generators essentially
composed of:
- a supporting frame (Fig. 1 Ref. 1).
- A self-excited and self-regulating synchronous alterna- tor (Fig. 1 Ref. 2).
- A four-stroke diesel motor (Fig. 1 Ref.3) with electric starting.
- An instrument panel with sockets (Fig.1 Ref. 4).
4) INSTALLATION AND PRELIMINARY CHECKS

4.1) Positioning the unit

Position the power unit horizontally and make sure that the gas exhaust is not turned towards any obstacle or that this
is at least 2 m. away from the unit. Make the earth connection by means of the appropriate terminal and a wire having
a section of not less than 6 sq. mm (Fig. 2).

4.2) Battery connection

The unit is supplied without battery. Therefore, choice and installation of the battery is left up to you. Place the starting
battery on to the battery holder which each unit is supplied with. Mount the battery holder in the position indicated in
Fig. 3 using the screws supplied.
The battery holder dimensions are given in Fig. 3. When choosing the battery, bear in mind that you need at least a 12V
- 55A/h battery for the models 4200-5000-7500 and a 12V - 70A/h battery for the model 10000.
For connection, use the cables supplied along with each unit: connect the positive (+) cable to the battery's positive
(+) terminal first, and the negative (-) cable to the battery's negative (-) terminal then.
Each unit is equipped with a special device for recharging of its own starting battery.
Important
Periodically check the electrolyte level as well as the condition of the connections for recharging. — Should it become
necessary to disconnect the battery's wires, reverse the order suggested by the instructions for connection.
— Do not reverse the polarity of the connecting cables: this may cause serious damage to both the power unit and to
the battery.

4.3) Preliminary checks

Before start up, and particularly after every maintenance operation, it is a good rule to:
— Check the fuel and oil levels.
— Make sure that the fuel and the oil filler caps are well secured.
— Make sure that the unit is at an equilibrium on its points of support.
— Make sure that there are no electrical appliances connected.
