Airline mode: release the mask straps, lock the regulator acting on the side button and remove the facepiece. Close the hand
wheel valve of the set and disconnect the airline acting on the quick coupling. Vent off the regulator by the central rubber
button. Unfasten waist belt, lift the buckle tab to release the shoulder strap and finally doff the apparatus.
Escape Mode: release mask's harness side arms. Doff the facepiece and close the hand wheel valve; vent off the
regulator, unfasten waist belt, lift buckle tab to release shoulder strap and doff the apparatus.
3.5.1. Cleaning and disinfection
After use or when deemed necessary parts or assemblies (mask and regulator) shall be thoroughly cleaned,
disinfected and dried. This shall be made with lukewarm soapy water. Rinsing shall be made in running water. Should
disinfecting agents be used read carefully instructions as far as concentration and temperature are concerned. Avoid
the use of solvents that can spoil plastics and rubber. When soaking components in tubs, gently stir them manually.
Note: Detergents remove lubricants from mechanical parts. After cleaning do perform a functional test and when
necessary lubricate parts following specific instructions. Do not exceed 60°C when drying the apparatus.
3.5.2. Cylinder refilling
Warning: air for compressed air breathing devices shall conform to EN 12021.
Refill cylinder only if:
‐ it meets national regulations
‐ it shows the date and the stamp of the manufacturer
‐ the date of test has not elapsed
Do not use damaged cylinders.
Refilling Procedure
Refill at the working pressure shown on the cylinder.
Warning: Fill gradually with a compressor and avoid the use of pouring systems at high pressure. Too quick an entry
of air could damage gaskets and cause leaks from the apparatus.
1) The cylinder shall be free from harness
2) Ensure that the set is completely closed (knob fully screwed on)
3) Unscrew the refilling connector cover and make sure that the O‐Ring be in its seat
4) Connect the refilling adapter supplied by SPASCIANI (P/N 53170) which converts thread M15x1,25 into the
standard EN 144‐2
5) Connect to the filling ramp and fill to a pressure 10% higher than the nominal working pressure. After cooling
down, the pressure will return to normal. Should the final pressure be too low repeat the operation. While filling
check that there be no leaks from the hose or gauge with soapy water.
4. MAINTENANCE AND CHECKS
4.1. Maintenance
Checks described at paragraphs 3.1 and 3.3 (before use, after use and refilling) shall be regularly performed and if
they show any malfunction it is mandatory to do extraordinary maintenance operations.
4.2. Scheduled Maintenance
The efficiency of the apparatus is given by the gauge indication that shall correspond to full charge. If the cylinder is
even partially empty, the apparatus shall be sent to SPASCIANI or to an appointed Agent for revision. It is highly
recommended to check pressure at least every six months. It is also recommended to perform a functionality and
tightness test at least annually. Every three years the apparatus shall be reconditioned and all O‐Rings and gaskets
replaced with final control of regulator.
