c) Adjust the cutting depth to match the thick-
ness of the work piece. Less than a complete saw
blade tooth should be visible under the work piece.
d) Never hold the work piece to be cut in your
hands or on your leg. Secure the work piece
on a stable platform. It is important to support the
work piece properly, so that your body is protected, the
saw blade does not bind, and you maintain control.
e) Hold the power tool only at the insulated
gripping surfaces if work is being performed
in which the cutting tool could touch hidden
wiring or its own connection cord. Contact with
a live wire charges the exposed metal parts of the power
tool, and exposes the user to an electric shock.
f)
For long cuts, always use a long cut stop or
a straight edge guide. This improves cutting preci-
sion and reduces the risk of the saw blade binding.
g) Always use saw blades with shaft holes of
the right size and shape (diamond or round).
Blades that do not fi t the saw's fastening parts run off
centre, which leads to a loss of control.
h) Never used damaged or inappropriate wash-
ers or a damaged or inappropriate bolt for
the saw blade. The blade washers and bolts have
been specially designed for your saw, in order to provide
optimal performance and operating safety.

Causes and user prevention of kickback:
Kickback is a sudden reaction to a bound, hanging or
badly aligned saw blade. This makes the saw go out of
control and lift out of the work piece in the user's direc-
tion.
If the saw blade is binds or remains hanging in the slot,
the saw blade becomes blocked, and due to the mo-
tor's reaction the unit suddenly springs back toward the
user.
If the saw blade is distorted or poorly aligned in the slot,
the teeth and the rear edges of the blade can dig into
the surface of the wood, making the blade "climb out"
and spring back in the direction of the user.
Kickback is the result of misuse and/or inappropriate op-
eration of the saw or of the wrong conditions, and can be
prevented with the appropriate precautionary measures
provided below.
a) Hold the saw fi rmly with both hands and hold
your arms in such a way that they can resist
the force of the kickback. Position your body
on one of the two sides of the saw blade, but
not in line with the blade. Kickback can lead to

the saw springing back, but its force can be kept under
control by the operator if appropriate precautionary
measures are taken.
b) If the saw blade hangs or the cut is inter-
rupted for any reason, release the trigger and
leave the saw motionless in the material until
the blade comes to a complete stop. Never try
to remove the saw blade from the work piece
or pull it backwards while the saw blade is
moving — this can cause kickback. Look the
situation over and take corrective measures to remove
the cause of the saw blade's hanging.
c) If a saw in the work piece is put back into
operation, centre the saw blade in the slot
and make sure that the teeth of the blade
don't grip into the material. If the saw blade is
hanging, it can wander upward can kick back out of the
work piece when the switch is turned back on.
d) Keep large panels supported, so that the saw
blade does not bind and no kickback occurs.
Large panels have a tendency to sag under their own
weight. Place supports on both sides under the panel in
the area of the cutting line, and in the area of the edge
of the plate.
e) Never use blunt or damaged saw blades. Dull
or poorly adjusted saw blades lead to a narrow sawing
slot, which in turn leads to excessive friction, causing the
blade to hang and creating kickback.
f)
The safety lever for the saw blade depth
and angle must be fi rmly secured before you
make the cut. If the saw blade's setting slips during
the cut, this can lead to hanging and kickback.
g) Be especially careful when making a piercing
cut into existing walls or other invisible areas.
The protruding saw blade can meet objects and kick
back.
Safety instructions for saws with
a pendulum blade guard
a) Before each use, make sure that the lower
guard closes properly. Do not operate the
saw if the lower guard does not move freely
and does not close right away. Never clamp
or tie the lower guard in the open position. If
the saw is accidentally dropped, the lower guard can
bend. Lift the lower guard with the entry lever and make
sure that it moves freely and does not touch the saw blade
or any other part. This applies to all angles and cutting
depths.
