Read all safety warnings and
all instructions. Failure to follow
the warnings and instructions may result in electric
shock, fire and/or serious injury.
Save all warnings and instructions for future
reference.
The term "power tool" in the warnings refers to your
mains-operated (corded) power tool or battery-oper-
ated (cordless) power tool.

Cutting procedures

 Keep your hands out of the sawing area
and away from the saw blade. Hold the
auxiliary handle or the motor housing
with your other hand. When both hands hold
the circular saw, then they cannot be injured
through the saw blade.
 Do not reach below the workpiece. Below
the workpiece, the retracting blade guard cannot
protect your hands against the saw blade.
 Adapt the cutting depth to the thickness
of the workpiece. Less than half of a full tooth
should be visible below the workpiece.
 Never hold the workpiece to be sawn in
your hand or over your leg. Secure the
workpiece against a stable surface. It is
important to properly secure the workpiece, in
order to minimise the hazard of body contact, jam-
ming of the saw blade or loss of control.
 Hold the tool by the insulated gripping
surfaces when performing operations
where the application tool could contact
hidden wires. Contact with a "live" wire will
also make exposed metal parts of the tool "live"
and shock the operator.
 For lengthway cuts, always use a stop or
a straight edge guide. This improves the cut-
ting accuracy and reduces the possibility that the
saw blade becomes wedged or jams.
 Always use saw blades with correct size
and shape (diamond versus round) of
arbour holes. Saw blades that do not match the
mounting hardware of the saw will run off-centre,
causing loss of control.

Safety Warnings for Circular Saws

Working safely with this product
is possible only when the operat-
ing and safety information are
read completely and the instruc-
tions contained therein are strictly
followed.
 Never use damaged or the wrong saw
blade washers or fastening screws. These
saw blade washers or fastening screws were spe-
cially designed for your saw, for safe operation and
optimum performance.
Causes and operator prevention of
kickback:
 Kickback is the sudden reaction of the tool due to a
pinched, bound or incorrectly aligned saw blade,
causing an uncontrolled saw to lift up and out of the
workpiece toward the operator;
when the saw blade becomes wedged or caught in
the narrowing kerf, it becomes blocked, and the
power of the motor will force the machine back
toward the operator;
if the saw blade becomes twisted or misaligned in
the cut, the teeth at the back edge of the saw blade
can become wedged in the workpiece, causing the
saw blade to climb out of the kerf, and the saw to
jump back toward the operator.
 Kickback is the result of improper or
incorrect use of the saw. It can be avoided by
taking proper precautions as described below.
 Maintain a firm grip with both hands on
the saw and position your arms to allow
you to resist kickback forces. Always
position yourself aside of the saw blade
and never in line with the saw blade. Kick-
back can cause the saw to jump backwards, but
kickback forces can be controlled by the operator,
when suitable precautions are taken.
