3 Applications

The set SIEM-111 / 5 is a wireless audio transmission
system designed for monitoring applications on stage
(in-ear monitoring) which can also be used for various
other mobile audio signal transmissions, e. g. wireless
command or control transmission. The set consists of
the transmitter SIEM-111T and the receiver SIEM-
111/R5 with the earphones IE-1. For extending the
system, the receiver and the earphones are also avail-
able separately. Thus, any number of receivers can be
operated with a single transmitter.
Compared to standard stage monitors, the use of
an in-ear monitoring system has considerable advan-
tages. Each musician will be able to adjust his/her
monitoring volume individually at any time while the
sound remains the same, regardless of the current
position of the musician on stage and regardless of the
room acoustics at different places of performance.
Due to the lack of monitor speakers, the sound on
stage is more transparent and of lower volume (which
will save your hearing and your nerves) and there is
hardly any howlback. The wireless transmission of the
audio signal to the stage ensures the musicianʼs free-
dom of movement.
The system can be operated in mono, stereo, or
with two independent mono signals (mix/mono). The
mix/mono mode will enable the musician on stage to
change the mixing ratio of the two signals (e. g. his/her
solo voice and the band) himself/herself at any time.

3.1 Conformity and approval of the transmitter

Herewith, MONACOR INTERNATIONAL declare that
the unit SIEM-111T is in accordance with the basic
requirements and the other relevant regulations of the
directive 1999 / 5 / EC. The declaration of conformity
can be found in the Internet via the JTS home page
(www.jts-germany.de).
This unit may be operated in the following countries:
DE
In the Federal Republic of Germany, the transmitter
SIEM-111T requires a frequency assignment (for
which a charge is payable).
In other countries, it is necessary to apply for a corre-
sponding approval. Prior to operating the system out-
side Germany, please contact the MONACOR sub-
sidiary or the corresponding authorities of the respec-
tive country. Links to the national authorities can be

4 Setting the System into Operation

4.1 Setting up the transmitter

The best transmission quality is obtained when the
transmitter is placed at the height of the receiver
(approx. 1 m above the ground) and when there are no
obstacles between the transmitter and the receiver.
The transmitter should also have a distance of approx.
1 m from lateral walls.
For rack installation, screw the two mounting brack-
ets to the right and left sides of the housing. By means
of an extension cable, the antenna can be mounted to
the front side of a mounting bracket in the opening pro-
vided. The cable is available as an accessory.

4.2 Connecting the transmitter

1) For power supply, connect the mains cable sup-
plied to the mains connection jack (10) and to a
mains socket (100 – 240 V~).
2) Connect the audio source(s), e. g. stereo output or
monitor outputs of a mixer, to the combined
XLR/6.3 mm
jacks
RIGHT/CH. 2 IN (15).
The connections are designed for balanced sig-
nals; the pin configuration can be found in figures 7
and 8 on page 37. The input signal should have line
level.
If only an unbalanced signal is available at the
output of the signal source, this signal can also be
LEFT/CH. 1 IN
