The Gigabit Ethernet Switch comes with rubber feet and a mounting kit. This allows you to use the switch
on your desk or mounted in a rack.
4.1 Installing the switch for desktop or shelf use
When installing the switch on a desktop or shelf, the rubber feet included with the switch should be
attached to the bottom. Attach these rubber feet on the bottom at each corner of the switch.
This will allow enough ventilation space between the switch and the surface the switch is placed on.
4.2 Installing the switch in a rack
Fasten the mounting brackets to the switch using the screws provided. With the brackets attached
securely, you can mount the switch in a standard rack.
Warning : Installing systems in a rack without the front and side stabilizers installed could cause the rack
to tip over, potentially resulting in bodily injury under certain circumstances. Therefore,
always install the stabilizers before installing components in the rack. After installing
components in a rack, do not pull more than one component out of the rack on its slide
assemblies at one time. The weight of more than one extended component could cause the
rack to tip over and may result in injury.

4.3 Connecting the AC power cable

Plug one end of the AC power cable into the power connector of the switch and the other end into a free
wall outlet.
After the switch is turned on, the LED indicators should respond as follows:
• All of the LED indicators will blink momentarily. This blinking of the LED indicators represents a reset
of the system.
• The power LED indicator will remain ON.
Note : In the event of a power failure, unplug the switch. When power has resumed, plug the switch
back in.
