ADJUSTMENTS
If the distances are different:
 Loosen the two screws located on top of the rip fence.
 Adjust the rip fence.
 Alternately retighten the screws. Recheck alignment.
 Repeat steps as needed until rip fence is correctly aligned.
 Replace blade guard, riving knife, and anti-kickback pawls.
To check the alignment of the low fence:
 Unplug the saw.
 Verify the blade is parallel to the miter gauge groove as
described in the Adjusting the Blade Parallel to the Miter
Gauge Groove (Removing Heel) section in Operations.
 Verify that the rip fence is parallel to the saw blade as
described earlier in this section.
 Remove the rip fence.
 Turn the rip fence on its side.
 Place the fence on a flat level surface with the front of
the fence hanging over the edge.
 Place a combination square against the rip fence and low
fence as shown.
 Measure the distance from the side of the rip fence to
the exterior edge of the low fence.
 Move the combination square and measure the distance
at the opposite end of the low fence.
NOTE: If the distances are the same, swing the low fence
to the other side of the rip fence, turn the rip fence over,
and recheck alignment.
If the distances are different:
 Loosen but do not remove the Phillips screws at the
front and back of the low fence.
NOTE: After the screws are loosened, the position of the
low fence can be adjusted by hand.
 Tighten Phillips screws.
 Recheck alignment.
 Repeat steps as needed until low fence is correctly aligned.
 Replace blade guard, riving knife, and anti-kickback pawls.
 Make two or three test cuts on scrap wood. If the cuts
are not true, repeat the process.
TO CHECK THE TIGHTNESS OF THE RIP
FENCE LOCKING LEVER
See Figure 67.
The locking lever on the rip fence should hold the rip fence
securely against the front and back rails. The lever should
not be difficult to push down and lock. To assure proper
fence lock adjustment:
 Lock the rip fence in place.
 Try moving the fence from side-to-side. If the fence moves,
tighten the lock nut 1/4 turn at a time, rechecking for
movement after each adjustment.
FRONT OF
RIP FENCE
LOW FENCE
LOCK NUT
 With the rip fence in the locked position, recheck rip fence
parallelism with the blade and adjust if necessary.
NOTE: If it is difficult or too easy to lock and unlock the
locking lever, adjust the lock nut until the lever is properly
tensioned then repeat the above steps.
