How does stimulation current work?
The back belt works on the basis of transcutaneous (meaning "through the skin") electrical nerve stimulation
(TENS). TENS is a clinically proven, effective, medication-free method of treating certain types of pain which,
when used properly, is free of side effects. It is also approved as a means of simple self-treatment.
The pain-relieving effect is caused by suppressing the transmission of pain in the nerve fibers (particularly
through high-frequency impulses) and increasing the release of the body's own endorphins, which decrease the
sensation of pain.
Every condition that calls for the use of TENS must be clarified by your physician. He or she will also give you
information about the specific benefits of TENS self-treatment.
