manufacturer of the detergent itself) and rinsed under running water. When all the
the parts that have been cleaned can be dried with a soft cloth and then stored.
3.2 - DISINFECTION
After washing, all components of the ampoule, masks and mouthpiece can
be soaked in a cold disinfectant solution (such as a solution with a sodium
hypochlorite concentration above 2%), following the instructions indicated by
the manufacturer of the same. It is possible to disinfect Alvea components by
boiling them in water for up to 10 minutes: the components must not come in
direct contact with the bottom of the pot. The boiling cycle may alter the colour or
appearance of the components; this does not affect the operation of the device.
3.3 - STERILIZATION
The components of the ampoule, masks and mouthpiece are compatible with the
autoclave sterilization cycle at 121 °C for at least 15 min. (max 30 min.) for up to
20 cycles.
The sterilization cycle is recommended when the device is used in a hospital
environment or when it is used by several patients.
4 - MAINTENANCE
Cleaning, disinfection and/or sterilization operations of Alvea components allow for
continuous monitoring of their intact state and can therefore give evidence of the need
for replacement thereof. Repeated sterilization cycles may affect the characteristics of
the material of the ampoule and masks; it is, therefore, recommended to check after
each sterilization the appearance and intact state of the components. Alvea must be
replaced when its deterioration is obvious.
