Maintenance and cleaning work may only be carried out on level surfaces
with the engine switched off and the spark plug connector disconnected.
Regular maintenance is essential for safety and top performance.
Never remove the plug connector when the engine is running! Risk
of electric shock.
Only remove the plug connector once the engine has cooled down. Risk of burns!
Make sure the spark plug connector is fitted tightly. Risk of electric shock.
If the tank has to be emptied, this should be done in the open, and with a
cold engine. Take care to ensure that no fuel is spilt.
Only store the scarifier with the cutter shaft raised. A lowered cutter shaft may
bend over time and compromise the operational safety of the scarifier.
For reasons of warranty and safety, only genuine spare parts may be used.
Non-equivalent spare parts can damage the machine and are a safety hazard.

8 PREPARATION

The following parts are included in the packaging for assembly of the scarifier:
Scarifier
Pre-assembled handlebar upper section
Tool bag with the following contents:
Operating instructions with declaration of conformity
Warranty conditions (depending on model)
Various fixing parts
In the unlikely event of a missing part, please contact your dealer.
ATTENTION
Always remove the spark plug connector before fitting the bar and starter cable
holder, and when folding the bar out. Following assembly, at the latest before
starting the engine, push the spark plug connector back in place.

Assembling the guide bar upper section (figure C3 + E3 )

Push the upper part of the guide bar onto the lower part of the guide bar in such
a way that the two saucer-head screws M6x45 (1) can be pushed through the
holes in the handle from the inside C3 .
From the outside, place the curved washer (2) on the screws on both sides;
screw on the two wing nuts (3) and tighten C3 .
Push the upper half of the adjustment rod (4) for the scarifier cutter shaft into the
connecting piece (6) on the lower half of the adjustment rod (5), push a hexagon
bolt (7) through from the outside, and screw tight with the wing nut (9) after having
pushed on the plain washer (8) E3 .
Fasten the cable to the upper part of the handle using the cable tie in the tool bag.

Assembly of switching box (figure K1 )

Open the cover (1).
Slide the switching box (2) onto the bar (3), at the same time, insert the square
bar (4) into the bearing (5) of the safety grip.
Now the switching box is located on the inside of the bar.
Close the cover (1) from the outside, over the bar and the switching box and screw
firmly using the screws (6) (from the tool bag) and tighten to 1.5 Nm.

Handle starter assembly (figure L1 )

Remove the starter cable holder (1) from the tool bag.
Unscrew the nut until the two halves can be pushed over the bar.
There is a sticker (2) on the top bar showing the position of the starter
cable holder.
ATTENTION
For reasons of safety, the starter cable holder may only be fitted in the
prescribed position.
Pull the starter cable (3) out and insert it into the starter cable holder.
Fit the two halves (4) together and turn them inwards slightly, tighten the nut again.
This prevents the starter cable from popping out.
The starter cable holder must be fitted / aligned in such a way that the starter cable
is freely accessible and does not rub against any other parts.

9 BEFORE INITIAL USE

For explanation of symbols, see the table on page 3
Check all screw connections and the spark plug connector for a tight fit. Tighten the
screws, if necessary. Special attention must be paid to the assembly and condition
of the cutter shaft (refer to the chapter "Cutter shaft care").
Always have work on the cutter shaft done by an authorised specialist workshop.
If the cutter shaft is assembled incorrectly, parts can become loose, which can
lead to serious injuries.
The scarifier is fitted with an engine stop device.
Before using the equipment for the first time, make sure that the engine stop safety
control bar is working perfectly. When the safety grip is released, the engine and the
cutting tool must come to a standstill (Note! The cutting tool runs for a while!). If this
is not the case, please consult your nearest authorised workshop.
After release, the bar must always return to the position shown in the "Description of
components" diagram.
If this is not the case, it must be checked immediately by an authorised workshop.
Machine safety and protective devices must not be manipulated or disabled.
Make sure that all protective devices have been attached properly and are
not damaged.
