CONTROLS AND FUNCTIONS

1 Main POWER switch and STANDBY/ON Button
When the main POWER switch is ON:
Press STANDBY/ON button to turn the power on.
Press it again to turn the system off (power standby
mode).
The indicator lights up in power standby mode and
goes out when this unit is turned on.
2 REMOTE SENSOR Window
3 INPUT SELECTOR
Select the desired source with the INPUT (source)
SELECTOR. (The INPUT indicator will light.)
VCR: To listen to the sound of the VCR connected to
the VCR terminals.
AUX: To listen to the sound of the source connected
to the AUX terminals.
MD/TAPE 1: To listen to MD/TAPE 1.
TUNER: To listen to radio broadcast.
PHONO: To listen to record.
CD: To listen to compact disc.
4 TAPE 2 MONITOR Button
5 MUTING Button
Press this button to momentarily reduce the gain by
–20 dB.
6 VOLUME Control
This control is used to adjust the level of the signals
output to the speaker systems and headphones.
7 MIC Jack and MIC LEVEL Control
With the microphone plugged into this jack, the
sound picked up from the microphone will be heard
together with the source sound selected by the
INPUT SELECTOR.
When microphone mixing is required, plug the
microphone into the MIC jack and adjust the
microphone input level with the MIC LEVEL control.
8 PHONES Jack
Connect the headphone plug to this jack.
9 SPEAKERS Select Buttons
These buttons are used to select speaker system
A or B.
0 BASS/TREBLE Tone Controls
These two tone controls – BASS and TREBLE – can
be used to obtain a "flat" frequency response or a
tone which suits your individual listening preference.
The BASS control adjusts low frequencies and the
TREBLE control adjusts the high frequencies.
q SOURCE DIRECT Button
When this button is pressed, the signal selected by
the INPUT (source) SELECTOR is supplied directly to
the amplifier circuit, allowing you to listen to the
source with better sound quality.
w BALANCE Control
This control is used to adjust the balance between
the left and right channels. Normally set to the
center position.
e LOUDNESS Button
This button compensates for the non-linear response
of the human ear at low volumes. Set this switch to
the OFF position when listening at normal levels.
