• Make sure to keep the power cable of the power
tool at a safe distance from the driving disc to
further reduce the risk of electrocution. That will
minimise the risk of damage to the cable insula-
tion or cutting through the cable with the abrasive
and also prevent the cable looping around your
hand or arm.
• Unplug the mains plug immediately if the electric
cable is damaged.
• Do not pull the electric cable around corners,
as this might result in kinks or tears in the cable,
which could then cause additional damage at a
later time.
• Never pull on the electric cable and only use the
actual plug to unplug the electric power tool. Do
not suspend the power tool by its power cable.
• Switch off the machine before replacing the
sanding disc, polishing disc or the polishing pad.
• Disconnect the machine from mains power
before replacing the driving disc.
• Do not expose any part of the power tool to
caustic media (e.g. chemicals) or excessive heat
(above 60 °C).
• Do not attempt to make technical changes to the
power tool.
• Keep the electric power tool away from rain and
moisture.
• Use only MENZER-recommended abrasives and
driving discs compliant with the intended use and
the power tool dimensions. All accessories must fit
the drive shaft exactly to prevent uneven running,
vibration and loss of control over the power tool.
• The use of damaged accessories is prohibited.
All accessories and the driving disc must be
checked and replaced as needed before every
use and after a fall or other potentially damaging
occurrence.
• Do not use accessories with a rotational speed
that does not match or is higher than the max.
rotational speed stated on the electric power tool.
• Only use the random orbital sander on dry
substrates. Do not use water or any liquid cooling

lubricants, as these could facilitate potentially fatal
electric shocks.
• Do not operate the machine directly next to or
very close to your body to prevent cuts or more
serious injuries. The electric power tool must only
be carried on the body when it is at a complete
standstill.
• Put down the machine only after it was switched
off and the driving disc has come to a complete
standstill to prevent hooking or recoil.
• Never put down the machine on top of its oper-
ating lever.
• Regularly clean the ventilation slits on the ma-
chine to maintain proper cooling and to prevent
electrically conductive dust deposits, as these
pose an electrocution or short circuit hazard. Dis-
connect the machine from mains electricity and
use compressed air to clean the ventilation slits.
• Immediately disconnect the machine from mains
electricity when taking a break or finishing work
for the day.
• Switch off the power tool immediately if it
produces unusual noises or if you feel unusual
vibration; make sure to contact MENZER Service
immediately.
• The following safety measures must be adhered
to when sanding mixed dusts with metal content
(e.g. lacquer processing in the automotive sector).
The same applies if sanding in a moist environ-
ment is unavoidable:
– Upstream integration of a fault current (FI, PRCD)
circuit breaker.
– Connection of an appropriate dust extractor to
the machine.
– Regular use of compressed air to clean the motor
housing interior of dust deposits.
• Deteriorating adherence of the hook & loop
layer on the driving disc may cause accessory
parts for the driving disc (e.g. sanding discs)
to detach and cause injuries. This may occur
specifically during non-contact operation. The
driving disc must therefore be replaced, once
adherence deteriorates.
• Only use sanding discs of the correct size and in
compliance with manufacturer recommendations.
• Do not attempt working with used or worn and
adapted sanding discs from larger electric power
tools.
• Machine operation may generate hazardous/
toxic dusts (e.g. when sanding specific types of
wood or mineral substances). Inhaling or skin
contact with these types of dust may be hazardous
for the machine operator and any other person
within the work area.
Take note of the safety requirements applicable in
your country.
Connect the power tool to an appropriate dust
extraction system.
• Take extra care when working in corners, along
sharp edges, etc.
• Prevent sharp impacts and entanglements of the
accessory parts on the workpiece.
• Wear a P2 respiratory mask to protect your
health.
• Always wear protective goggles to protect your
eyes while sanding.
• Clean oil-soaked work materials (e.g. sanding
pads or polishing felt pads) with water and set
them out flat to dry. Oil-soaked work materials can
spontaneously ignite.
• Caution! Fire hazard! Avoid overheating of the
workpiece and the sander. Always empty the dust
collection container before taking a work break.
Sanding dust in the filter bag or filter of the dust
extractor can spontaneously ignite in unfavourable
conditions. The fire hazard increases if the sanding
dust mixes with varnish or polyurethane residues
or other chemical components and the workpiece
heats up after an extended work session.
• After a fall of the power tool, check the electric
power tool and the driving disc for visible damage.
Remove the driving disc for thorough inspection.
Contact your MENZER Service workshop for
repairs of any damaged parts before use.
A broken driving disc and damaged machines may
cause injuries or negatively impact the handling of
the power tools.
• Keep the grips and grip areas dry, clean and free
from oil or grease.
4.3 Working environment
• Ensure that there are no other persons at your
workplace or that there is a sufficient safety dis-
tance between you and the next person.
• Any nails, bolts or other metal objects must be
removed from or fully countersunk into the work
surface to prevent damage to the driving disc. This
measure will help prevent power tool damage,
jamming and recoil.
• Attach an appropriate industrial dust extractor
to reduce the dust load.
• Working with electric power tools can negatively
impact your hearing. Wear hearing protection!
• Sanding dust and flying fragments from the
abrasive or the workpiece are a hazard for your
eyesight. Wear protective goggles!
• Sanding dust poses a hazard to airways and
lungs. Wear a protective mask (e.g. a P2 respira-
tory mask)!
• Keep your hands, hair, feet and loose-fitting
clothing away from the driving disc and/or ad-
ditionally protect these.
• Avoid physical contact with grounded surfaces
like radiators or pipes, cookers and refrigerators.
• Wear non-skid work boots.
• Ensure secure footing (good ground contact and
balance) and avoid working too far overhead, as
you might lose your balance.
