which the data recording should start, into the appropriate boxes. When the Start Value is set as 0, the
programme will start collecting data immediately after the Start button is clicked. When giving the Start
Value, enter the value displayed on the force gauge including the positions after the decimal point, but
without the decimal point '.'. (Example: when the Start Value should be 1N, and the resolution of your
unit is 0.01N, enter 100 as the Start Value.)
When you click the Start button (and where applicable, after the collected value exceeds the Start
Value), the programme starts collecting data, which are entered into the charts column by column.
For cancelling the data transfer, click on Stop.
You can define the first data field as the Start Cell. To do this, double click on the cell of your wish. In
principle, the data will be written into columns, when the continuous data transfer function is being
used.
6.2 Transferring individual measurement values
To transfer individual measurement values at an arbitrary time, you use the Update button. Also when
using this function, you can define the Start Cell and moreover can determine whether the next
measurement value should be written into the same column (in the vertical direction) or into the same
line (in the horizontal direction).
The Peak Values for compression and traction forces (positive and negative peak values) will be
transferred by clicking on the respective buttons.
The tensile strength measure with a pull tester can be transferred by clicking on the respective button.
The memory will be reset after collecting the data.
6.3 Collecting several measurement series or individual values
To record several measurement series or individual values into a single worksheet or several
worksheets, define a new Start Cell for each worksheet and position the cursor respectively.
7.0 Processing data with MS Excel
To process the collected data, close the Fmi_Connect window and switch to MS Excel. The data can
now be processed and analysed using all the standard functions of the spreadsheet programme.
Fmi_Connect is available as an add-in to MSExcel also after closing the programme, and appears in the
menu bar after opening the programme the next time.
