1.0 Introduction
Fmi_Connect is an excel add-in software for Microsoft Windows® (Windows NT4.0, Windows 2000,
Windows XP) with MSExcel2000® and higher and PCs with serial interface (Serial I/O Port with
RS232C) with 9-pin D-Sub connector.
This software enables you to write Data, which are collected by Alluris FMI-200/400 series digital force
gauges, into MS Excel charts, which can be further processed according your demands.
2.0 Installation
After the Installation CD is inserted, its setup will start automatically. Should it not happen, please
check whether you possess the necessary authorisations for programme installations. In this case
start the installation manually by opening the application SETUP.EXE.
The programme data are saved by default in C:/Programme/fmi_connect/. If necessary, you can select
another directory during the setup procedure.
3.0 Activate Add-In in Microsoft Excel
When the installation process is complete, start the spreadsheet programme Microsoft Excel and load
the installed add-in programme.

Click Add-Ins-Manager in Extras.

Click Search
C:/Programme/fmi_connect/.
•
Double click Fmi_ConnectFGCB.
•
Activate the box next to the Add-In Fmi_connect_FGCB in the Available Add-Ins field.

The Add-in Fmi_Connect_FGCB should now be added to the menu bar.
4.0 Plugging in connection cable
Using the cable FMI-931PC, connect your digital force gauge with the serial I/O port of your computer.
This serial I/O port is normally COM1, however, you may use another serial port by changing the default
settings beforehand by clicking Set in the menu bar Fmi_Connect_FGCB .
The programme transfers data at 19200 Baud. Since June 2004, the force gauges are delivered pre-
adjusted to meet this baud rate. Instruments delivered prior to that must be adjusted according to the
descriptions in this operation manual.
