FIG. 1
TO ASSEMBLE BACK AND SEAT
1) Spread glue in the four center holes in the top of the Seat (H). Insert the larger chucked ends of
the four Back Spindles (I) as shown in FIGURE 1.
NOT STOP.
PLEASE NOTE: The Back (J) has a ROUNDED TOP EDGE ON THE FRONT and has a square
edge in back.
2) Spread a thin coat of glue about 1½" long centered in the grooves on both ends of the Back (J).
Put the Back and the Backposts(G) together as shown in FIGURE 1. Insert a #8 x 2¼" Brass Pan
Head Screw (N) through the hole in the backpost into the predrilled hole in the back and fasten
securely. Quickly wipe off any glue that may be squeezed out. Spread glue thinly but evenly in the
four holes in the bottom of the Back (J), (too much glue and it will drip out) and in the two corner
holes in the seat. Insert the Backposts into these holes while working the Back Spindles (I) into
holes in the back one at a time. It may be necessary to use a rubber mallet or padded hammer to
tap these pieces in place. It is important that the shoulders of the backposts and spindles are in
contact with the seat.
Spread a thin film of glue in the upper screw holes in each backpost and tap Wood Buttons (L) in
place.
After the back is in place, put a little glue on the tapered ends of the Wood Wedges (M) and pound
them into the slots in the bottom of the Backposts (G) as shown in FIGURE 2.
