USE AND STORAGE
Before performing the leak test, make sure that there is no possibility of sparks and that you are
in a large outdoor area. Connect the propane gas tank to the regulator and turn the valve on the unit
to the "off " position. Apply a mixture of soap and water to all connections. Turn on the gas supply; if
bubbles appear in any connection there may be a leak. If you smell gas or discover a leak, turn off the
gas valve, disconnect the propane tank, and do not use the appliance until the leak is repaired.
Do not use the heating unit without inspecting the gas hose. If there are signs of wear or abra-
sion, the hose must be replaced (if applicable).
START-UP
1. Open the gas passage of the cylinder regulator.
2. Press and turn the control knob to the PILOT position (90° counterclockwise).
3. Press the control knob all the way down and hold for 60 seconds. While squeezing the control knob,
press the IGNITION button repeatedly until the pilot flame lights. Release the control knob after the
pilot flame lights.
NOTE:
If the cylinder has just been changed, hold the control knob in the PILOT position for at least one
minute to purge air from the gas lines.
When the pilot flame is lit, make sure that the control knob is depressed while pressing the IGNITION
button. The control knob can be released after the pilot flame is lit.
If the pilot flame does not light or goes out, repeat step 3.
4. After lighting the pilot flame, turn the control knob to the maximum position and hold for 5 minutes
or more before turning the control knob to the desired temperature position.
CAUTION: CHECK THAT THERE ARE NO CRACKS OR BREAKS IN THE GLASS BEFORE
