5. GENERAL
The swivel jib crane is a steel construction with variable overhang. It is
inserted into a box column, which can be attached to the ground or to
the basin edge, and serves for lifting and lowering, as well as swivelling
loads, predominantly in sewage treatment plants.
Manually operated chain hoists or galvanised respectively stainless
steel rope winches are used as hoisting gears.
The crane corresponds to lifting class HC1 in accordance with
DIN EN 13001, with voltage curve parameter s
designed for a total number of voltage cycles (e.g. lifting, pivoting,
lowering) < 1.6x10
(–> chap. 8).

6.1 Box column fastening
The box columns must be attached sufficiently and according to the
following regulations.
The operator and/or the company assigned by him for carrying out
the mounting are responsible for this. The correct construction of the
mounting must be confirmed (e.g. with mounting protocol).
6.2 Ground, wall mounting with shear connectors
Basis for dimensioning the anchorage is the „Guideline for the Europe-
an Technical Approval of Metal Anchors for use in Concrete", Appendix
C, technology A, for bonded anchors. They are subject on-site to the
responsibility of an engineer having experience of anchorages and
concrete construction.
The following must be observed:
– Impacts and vibrations are inadmissible.
– Anchors are approved for use indoors and for use outdoors,
if no particularly aggressive conditions are present, e.g.:
– Spraying zone of sea water, constant, alternating immersion
in sea water
– Chloric atmospheres, e.g. in indoor swimming pools
– Extreme chemical contaminations, e.g. such as
– in flue gas desulphurating plants
– Anchors may be set in dry and wet concrete, however not in
boreholes filled with water
– Overhead assembly is inadmissible
– The temperature range for use of the anchorages is enc-
losed: -40 °C to +50 °C (max. long-term temperature) to
+80 °C (max. short-term temperature).
The shear connectors must be selected with consideration to the lar-
gest permissible load, with the greatest possible overhang of the crane
for the shear connector system according to approval (ETA-05/0231:
MKT V A4).

Concrete/Underground
– unripped concrete (pressure zone)
– C20/24 (B25) ≤ Concrete strength class ≤ C50/60 after EN
– Normal or without reinforcement, without edge reinforcement
– Perfect compression, no significant cavities
– Minimum concrete thickness: 175 mm
Geometrical characteristic values
– Minimum distance to each concrete edge: 100 mm

– Minimum distance between the shear connectors according to re-
Packing, transport, storage
The glass cartridges must be protected against sun exposure and be
stored in a dry place according to the assembly instructions at tempe-
ratures of at least +5 °C to at the most +25 °C.
Glass cartridges with exceeded date of expiry may not be used
anymore. The anchors must be packed and supplied as a mounting unit.
4573 – 205940
The glass cartridges are packed separately from the anchor rods (inclu-
4573 – 210029
ding hexagon nuts and washers).
4573 – 210030
The glass cartridges V-P may only be used with the appropriate anchor
rods V-A A4.
6.3 Box column embedded in concrete
– Thickness of the base plate h >= 200 mm
– Concrete quality ≥ C20/25 after EN 206:2000-12
– Reinforcement after drawing in item 12 at least for each Q188A
– Minimum distance to each concrete edge 200 mm.

quirements of the mounting holes and/or after drawing (s. point 12)
– The specifications for mounting the box column and spe-
cifications for embedding the box columns in concrete can
be inferred from the drawings (item 12).
– The anchors selected by haacon do not replace having the
dimensioning examined by a stress analyst according to the
local operating conditions.
– All other fastenings (selection, dimensioning, design) are
the sole responsibility of the operator, and/or of the compa-
ny assigned by him.
