5) PC CONNECTON
The initial configuration of Compass SC requires a connection with
a PC and the Securbase software for PC, in Light or Plus version.
The system can also be permanently interfaced with a PC for visual
monitoring of access points.
In both cases, use an RS 232 or USB serial cable and respective
interface on the PC.
NOTE: Check the version of the COMPASS SC in use. The COM-
PASS SC-RS 232 version can only be connected to the PC by
means of an RS232 interface and RS 232 serial cable with male
to female connectors.
The COMPASS SC-USB version can only be connected to the PC
by means of an USB interface and an USB A-B serial cable.

The management of persons and their respective identification
devices (Compass-ISOCARD cards, Compass-RING key or
MITTO 2/4) is obtained by means of a system reader defined as
such starting from any Compass Reader or RTD-CA Receiver
connected to the RS485 serial line.
For practical reasons, it is advisable to use the system reader next to
the PC which runs the Securbase Light or Plus control program.
WARNING:It is important to make sure that the communication
address (polling) of each Compass-485 unit is univocal and

included between 0 and 31.The presence of two Compass 485
units with the same address causes software conflicts.
The above also applies to the addresses of any RTD-CA re-
ceivers which must not come into conflict with other devices
connected to the RS 485 line.
NOTE: When communication between the Securbase and COM-
PASS SC units is interrupted due to a failure or software problem,
the stand-alone functions of the COMPASS SC unit are nevertheless
active, which means that the access events can always be controlled
and the validity of the COMPASS ISOCARD, COMPASS Ring or
MITTO 2/4 identification devices in the memory be checked.
For further information, refer to the Securbase Light/Plus Instruc-
tions.
