the feeding mechanism of the feed dispenser is also filled with dry
feed.
The dry feed used should not exceed a maximum diameter of 15 mm.
A circular shape is preferable. Dry food that is too flat, too large,
unusually shaped or very sticky can cause a blockage in the conve-
ying mechanism.
Please make sure that the food slides down properly in the bowl.
When in doubt, switch to a less sticky type of food if the food accu-
mulates in the top half of the bowl and blocks the outlet.
Manual feeding
Unlock the control panel and then press and hold „+" to dispense a
single portion (24ml). Manual feeding does not affect programmed
feeding times.
Error messages
Unplug the feed dispenser and open the battery compartment cover
on the bottom to replace the batteries.
Error messages and troubleshooting
When the feeder detects a problem, the red „STATE" LED will light
up and the display will show one of the following error codes:
E3:LA | Lack of food (LA).
This error code indicates that the food container is empty or almost
empty. Refill the feed container and then initiate a manual feed to
clear the error code. The automatic feeder then returns to the preset
programme.
E2:JA | Blockage (JA = jam)
This error code indicates a blockage in the feeding mechanism, a
backlog at the outlet, an overfilled feeding bowl or heavy soiling
of the automatic feeder. To remove a blockage in the feeding me-
chanism, all feed must be removed from the feeder: Lift the feed
container out of the feeder and dump out the feed. Turn the feed
screw at the bottom of the container to remove feed residues from
the mechanism. Remove coarse dirt and check all moving parts for
visible damage. You can then reinsert the feed container and refill it.
Finally, trigger a manual feed to clear the error code.
If in doubt, also check whether the feed used meets the size specifi-
cations. The dry feed used should not exceed a maximum diameter
of 15 mm. A circular shape is preferable. Dry food that is too flat, too
large, unusually shaped or very sticky can promote a blockage in the
feeding mechanism.
In rare cases, a false E2JA error may occur if the feed outlet is heavily
soiled. Grease deposits and crumbs on the inside of the transparent
outlet can cause the sensors to detect a blockage even though there
is no blockage. In this case, you can solve the problem by cleaning
the inside of the transparent outlet.
E4 | Motor error / Other fault
The E4 error may indicate a problem with the motor as well as
a number of other malfunctions in the device. First try the steps
described for error E2JA. If the error still occurs after this, please
contact support: smartsupport@trixie.de.

Cleaning
To ensure proper functioning, the automaitc feed dispenser, especially
the bowl and the food container, must be cleaned regularly. Crumbs
and grease deposits can impair the function and lead to a blockage.
To do this, first disconnect the automatic feeder from the power
supply. The main housing of the automatic feeder, which contains the
electronics, is not dishwasher suitable. Use a dry, soft cloth to wipe
it down. The housing is not waterproof, so please do not use a wet
cloth. You can pull out the feed container upwards with the lid open
and clean it with water or wipe it with a damp cloth.
The feed mechanism on the bottom of the feed container can be
disassembled into its individual parts for cleaning in a few easy steps.
Please observe the following instructions when reassembling:
1. Align the wing cap (the smaller, of the two propeller-shaped parts)
with the slot in the feed container and push it down.
2. Then insert the impeller (the larger, of the two propeller-shaped
parts) into the wing cap. Note the correct orientation of the T-shaped
connector. Then attach the white cap by inserting it into the recesses
and turning it counterclockwise until it clicks into place.
3. Finally, adjust the impeller so that the rubber parts close the outlet
as shown below.
If the impeller is not properly adjusted, the unit will not be able to
dispense feed.
Make sure all parts of the feeder are completely clean and dry before
filling it with feed again.
Replacing the desiccant
Open the lid of the desiccant compartment and replace the desic-
cant. Replacement every one to two months is recommended.
Replacing the batteries
Unplug the vending machine and open the battery cover on the
bottom to replace the batteries.
Familiarisation
Some animals need time to get used to the new feeder. We therefore
recommend the following:
• Place the feeder next to your dog's or cat's food bowl without tur-
