Energy Saving Tips
To keep the freezer unit at optimal performance:
• Avoid opening door repeatedly.
• Avoid opening and leaving door open.
• Avoid heat sources by locating unit out of sunlight, and away from
ovens and stoves.
• Avoid setting temperature colder than necessary. Tip: Freezers with
fewer items to keep cool can be set at higher temperatures to save
energy.
• Let warm foods cool before storing in freezer.
• Locate unit in a well ventilated and humidity free room.
• Keep drawers and shelves in optimal position, see unit diagram, for
maximum cooling performance.
To increase fresh food shelf life:
• Do not place hot foods in freezer, allow them too cool first.
• Wrap or cover foods before storing in freezer.
• Allow room around stored foods for cool air to circulate.
To increase freezer performance:
• If unit has been left powered down for a while, allow it to run for at
least 2 hours on coldest setting before storing food inside.
• Do not put warm or hot foods in freezer, allow them to cool first.
• Store food in small portions to ease freezing, and aid portion control.
• Store food in plastic wrap, aluminum foil, or other air tight container
or bag. Remove all air.
• Label and date each package put into storage.
• Warning: Ice cubes, Popsicles, and other icy products may burn skin
if consumed immediately after removing from freezer.
• Do not refreeze frozen foods that have been defrosted.
• Do not exceed the storage period of food indicated by manufacturer.
