3. Introduction

The device is an over-the-counter device designed to re-
move unwanted hair and permanently reduce regrowth as
measured at 6, 9, and 12 months after treatment ends.
How IPL (intense pulsed light) technology
works
The device is based on the principle of selective photo-
thermolysis. IPL uses a combination of Intense Pulsed Light
(IPL) technology and unique skin condition sensors. The
light pulse is absorbed by the melanin in the hair shaft,
causing local thermal damage which results in a reduc-
tion in hair growth.

Long-term hair reduction

The hair growth cycle consists of three phases: anagen,
catagen, and telogen. Anagen is the growth phase, while
