05. Notes on maintenance and operation

Function test
In order to ensure prior to a measurement that the instrument is
working properly you can carry out a function test. For this purpose
switch on the instrument and place the electrode pins on the contact
surfaces identified by T on the upper face of the protective cover. If
the values displayed correspond to the reference values, the instru-
ment is functioning properly.
Reference values for the function test:
Wood moisture scale . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 27 % ± 2 %
Building moisture scale . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 1.25 % ± 0.1 %
The device is in disorder if the values displayed do not correspond
to the reference values.

Batterie test
In order to check the status of the batteries you can carry out a battery
test. For this purpose switch on the instrument and place the electrode
pins on the contact surfaces identified by B on the upper face of the
protective cover. If the values displayed correspond to the reference
values, the batteries have their maximum service life available. The
further the values displayed lie below the reference values, the lower
is the service life of the batteries remaining.
Reference values for the battery test:
Wood moisture scale . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . > 44 %
Building moisture scale . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . > 2 %
Changing batteries
If the batteries can no longer provide the necessary voltage for opera-
tion of the instrument, the battery status display flashes on the display
screen. The batteries are then exhausted and must be replaced. To
