levels of soluble salts present in the material can falsify the results
obtained.
The higher the level of salts, the higher the measured values. Exact
statements on the moisture content of materials containing mine-
rals are only possible by applying the kiln drying method or the CM
method.

04. Operation

Switching on and off
Remove the protective cover y from the lower face of the instru-
ment U . This procedure automatically switches the instrument on.
Place the protective cover y during the measurement procedure
on the upper face of the instrument V . To switch off replace the
protective cover on the lower face of the instrument. By means of
this procedure the instrument automatically switches itself off.
Automatic switch off: If an instrument that is switched on is not
used for any measurement within a period of approx. 15 minutes,
the instrument automatically switches itself off to preserve battery
life. In order to bring the instrument back into the switched-on
state, push briefly on the activation pin W that is fitted between
the electrode pins X .
