Overheat protection : When the appliance or
battery is overheated, the appliance automatically
stops. Let the appliance cool down before turning
it on again.
Overdischarge protection : When the battery
capacity becomes low, the appliance stops auto-
matically. If the appliance does not operate even
when the switches are operated, remove the
battery cartridge from the appliance and charge it.
Protections against other causes
Protection system is also designed for other causes that
could damage the appliance and allows the appliance to
stop automatically. Take all the following steps to clear
the causes, when the appliance has been brought to a
temporary halt or stop in operation.
1.
Turn the appliance off, and then turn it on again to
restart.
2.
Charge the battery(ies) or replace it/them with
recharged battery(ies).
3.
Let the appliance and battery(ies) cool down.
If no improvement can be found by restoring protection
system, then contact your local Makita Service Center.
Adjusting fan head angle
The angle of the fan head can be adjusted manually.
To adjust the vertical angle of the fan head, loosen the vertical angle fixing knob. After manually adjusting the angle
of the fan head, tighten the vertical angle fixing knob again.
The adjustable range of the fan head is as shown in the figure.

NOTICE:
Do not turn the fan head beyond the adjustable range.
Oscillating the fan head
CAUTION:
When oscillating the fan head,
keep obstacles clear of the moving range of the
fan head. The cordless fan may be pushed and fall
by the oscillation.
CAUTION:
Do not stop the oscillation by
holding the fan head. Always press the oscillation
button to stop. Otherwise the appliance may heat up
and cause burns.
The fan head begins to oscillate from the current posi-
tion when the oscillation button is pressed. The range to
oscillate of the fan head changes every time you press
the button (60-degrees / 90-degrees / 120-degrees /
off).

OPERATION
CAUTION:
The fan is made from resin. Some
kind of oil agent or chemicals which deteriorate
resin may break the fan and cause an injury.
Starting / stopping the fan
To turn on / off the power of the appliance, follow the
procedure below.
1.
Turn the air volume control switch in the direction
of the arrow in the figure. The appliance starts at mini-
mum air volume.

Turn the air volume control switch in the direction
of the arrow in the figure to the
power.

NOTICE:
Do not force the air volume control
switch beyond the
volume control switch may no longer work.
Adjusting air volume
By turning the air volume control switch during opera-
tion, you can adjust the air volume steplessly.

NOTICE:
Do not force the air volume control
switch beyond the indicator being fully lit.
Otherwise the air volume control switch may no lon-
ger work.
NOTE: Point the fan head toward the front before
starting the oscillation.
NOTE: Depending on the fan head position, the fan
head may not oscillate soon after the oscillation but-
ton is pressed because of the oscillation mechanism.
Auto-off timer
Press the auto-off timer button while the fan is running.
The duration to activate auto-off timer changes every
time you press the button (1 hour / 2 hours / 4 hours /
off). The number under each auto-off timer indicator
shows the remaining hour(s) to turn off the fan. The
auto-off timer indicator will turn off with time.
