MAINTENANCE AND CLEANING
Before cleaning, unplug the machine and let
it cool down.
The water tank should be rinsed and re-filled daily.
Every two/three days, empty and clean the dis-
charge basin and the used capsule drawer.
Do not dry the machine or its components in an
oven. Never use alcaline detergents, thinners, al-
cohol or harsh substances.
Do not immerse the machine in water.
Except in specific cases, all the components which
are not removable must be cleaned with cold wa-
ter and non-abrasive cloths or sponges.
TO CLEAN DISCHARGE BASIN AND
USED CAPSULE DRAWER
1
Remove the cup grid, the discharge basin and
the used capsule drawer. Dispose of any used
capsules.
2
Wash with cold or tepid water, dry and re-as-
semble correctly. Do not wash any component
of the machine in the dishwasher.
TO CLEAN BREWING SPOUT
1
Remove the brewing spout by pulling it down.
Wash with cold or tepid water, dry and re-as-
semble by pressing upward.
CLEANING AND DESCALING OPERATIONS
To ensure high quality beverages and the long life
of the machine, it is essential to periodically des-
cale it every 6 months or after 600 uses.
The machine may be programmed to display an
alarm (buttons 2/3 blinking blue color) after 600
uses.
The blinking blue alarm signal ceases after des-
caling has been carried out; it starts again after
another 600 uses.
Carry out the descaling operation utilizing a
descaler specifically recommended for espresso
machines.
23
Carefully follow the safety instructions of the
descaler. Avoid contact with eyes, skin and sur-
rounding surfaces.
Only use a descaler for espresso machines.
1
Fill the water tank with a solution of water and
descaler, following the instructions on the descaler
package.
2
Use an empty capsule, which is included in the ac-
cessories of the machine. Or, using a small spoon,
empty a capsule, carefully removing all espresso
powder.
3
Turn off the general on/off switch located on the
back of the machine.
4
Slide open the capsule insertion sliding board.
5
Press button 3 and hold it down while turning the
on/off switch on the back, to ON.
6
After 5 seconds, button 3 shows amber color.
7
Insert the empty capsule as if preparing a drink.
8
Press button 3 amber color.
The descaling cycle lasts about 25 minutes: it has
ended when buttons 1/2/3 are all blinking blue.
9
Remove the water tank, rinse well and fill with
fresh clean water.
10
Place the water tank on the machine and press
any button to begin the washing cycle. When the
washing cycle is complete, the machine will auto-
matically go to stand by.
11
Remove the water tank, rinse well and fill with
clean drinking water.
12
Place the water tank on the machine.
13
Open and close the capsule insertion lever to un-
load the empty capsule.
The machine is ready for use
It is possible, but not advisable, to manually re-set the
descaling alarm signal.
Perform points 3 and 4 above.
Hold down button 1 while turning the machine ON
using the switch on the back. Wait 5 seconds and
release button 1.
The machine is now ready.
