Please note:
The carburettor is adjusted to achieve maximum
engine power. Always use a tachometer to carry
out this adjustment.
ANTIVIBRATION ELEMENTS (FIG.47)
Should vibration noticeably increase on the handle bar, after
prolonged operation when compared to new condition of chain
saw, check anti-vibration elements for damage, and replace, if
necessary.
WARNING! Working with damaged or ineffective
anti-vibration elements on your chain saw endangers
your health!
CHAIN SPROCKET AND CLUTCH (Fig.48)
Before installing the new chain, inspect the condition of the chain
sprocket and clutch drum.
Worn chain sprockets cause damage to your new saw chain. The
bearing of the clutch drum and sprocket assembly is particularly
subject to stress. Therefore, periodic lubrication is required. Use
high temperature bearing grease (i.e. Mobil temp 78) or
equivalent (see maintenance chart).
REPLACEMENT OF SPROCKET AND CLUTCH ASSEMBLY
The clutch assembly is threaded on the crankshaft. CAUTION! Left
hand thread! This means using clockwise rotation for removal.
Proper installation sequence and positioning procedure must be
followed. Some special tools are required to replace clutch drum
and chain sprocket. Let an authorized SOLO service dealer make
this repair.
MUFFLER MAINTENANCE
A damaged or ineffective muffler increases risk of fire and may
lead to hearing damage. Periodically check condition of the
muffler and the retaining bolts.
WARNING! Never touch hot exhaust!
SPARK PLUG REPLACEMENT
WARNING! Do not contact spark plug or spark plug
cap while engine is running.
Service should only be performed with the engine
shut off.
There is danger of burns from a hot engine and
muffler. Wear protective gloves.
Ignition problems which cannot be solved must only be serviced
by SOLO authorized service dealers or shops.
Notes on spark plug: (fig. 49)
Heat range = 200
Electrode gap = 0.5 mm (.020")
Any trouble shooting of the ignition system should start with
the spark plug.
Checking the spark:
- Using an insulated pair of pliers, hold the spark plug attached
to the spark plug cap against the cylinder, but away from the
19
spark plug opening.
- Switch ignition switch to „I" („ON").
- Pull starter rope firmly. A good spark producing a clean, visible
spark should arc across the electrode (fig.50).
STORAGE OF THE CHAIN SAW
The chain saw should be stored in a cool,
dry place and be fitted with a chain guard (scabbard).
A special engine and corrosion treatment (preservative) is not
needed if the special 2 cycle castrol super TT oil is used.
Empty fuel tank and oil reservoir completely if chain saw is to
be stored for an extended period. Follow our advice especially
concerning bio-degradable bar oil.
