USB (MP3) mode
USB (MP3) mode
You can connect USB storage devices to this
device and play MP3/WMA files that are stored
on the USB device.
This chapter only refers to the playback of MP3
files since the method of operation for MP3
and WMA files is identical. In this chapter, the
term "MP3 storage device" refers to USB stor-
age devices like USB flash drives.
Notes:
It is not possible to play WMA files
u
with Digital Rights Management
(DRM) from online music stores in
this device.
WMA files can only be played
u
reliably if they were created with
Windows Media Player version 8
or higher.
Preparing a USB storage device
In order for the device to be able to recognise
a USB storage device, the following require-
ments must be met: the USB storage device
must be specified as a mass storage device, it
must be formatted with the FAT16 or FAT32
file system, and it must contain MP3 or WMA
files.
You can store a maximum of 32,000 tracks
(without ID3 tags) on a USB storage device.
You can use this device to access the directo-
ries and tracks individually. If you use tracks
that have ID3 tags, this maximum number of
files will be reduced.
Robert Bosch Car Multimedia GmbH
Bosch cannot guarantee that all the USB stor-
age devices available on the market will work
properly.

MP3 tracks can contain additional information
